Hw99S .22 Pellet Testing

Recommended Posts

Ey up folks sorry if this is a bit boring but hopefully it might help a few folk, we all get told about finding the right pellet for the gun but thought it might be refreshing to see some actual testing.

The results speak for themselves I think

Cheers

P.s. Sorry about the windage :p

Ya see that's a bit mad that. When I had toms imp, trophies were mint. So we're fields really... Suppose it just shows how literally each barrel of the same model likes a different form.

Tell me about it. You can imagine my frustration after going from a tin of FTT's to a tin of exacts wondering if there was something inherently wrong with the gun- until the LRG and FAP group.

The weird bit is, the exacts made the gun 'feel' horrible. Like, more recoil and even a bit of twang.

This is a standard 99 so I can only assume that the longer barrel has it's part to play in the pellet preference.

I just wrap a bullet in some 1000 wet&dry and rotate back and forth and walk around the gun at the same time.

Sounds daft but it keeps everything even.

No need press on or use a drill, your only after micro burr's.

JSB Express are very good in most HW guns too .

I have never found a gun which likes H&N ftt . When i got the IMP Tony wall sent down a tin of H&N which he said that is the prefered pellet .But found them not to be that good or the IMP was s**t , so tried FAP , JSB Express and superdomes and all three came in far better than H&N crap

Out of the three the Express are great

The last .22 I tuned grouped superbly with Crosman accupel ft but was crap with ftt.

I went into the shop last week to get a tin of fft for the hw110 and the lad gave me a tin of

Accupell ft, there the washed n lubed ones with Napier oil!

Same pellet same factory just cleaned up... The lad in the shops spot on, he's always at the range testing things!

Superdomes was my preference in my 99s. Followed by superhollow point for rats or squirrels out to 30 yards before they opened up. Really was a fantastic little springer. Under rated in my opinion.
