I picked it up and it's spot on to be honest, good on fuel, massive boots, 4x4 cruises on the motorway easily at a decent speed, and inside is basically the same components as vw Audi so fancy Lego it is then

I was referring to the Dacia Duster being built like Lego fella. Someone suggested one above.

I've got a Vectra estate. Torn between getting one of these 4x4 estates (probably the Audi all road) and going down the MPV route (zafira or vw Touran). I really like the touran and the extra headroom would come in handy, especially as I will fit a dog cage to the back.

I like the skodas. Would want the octavia VRS myself but that is smart what you've had. I imagine the 4 wheel drive will have its uses.

we had a 11 plate touran for 3 years never have another,Done my head in. I prefer the berlingo we got now.

What didn't you like about it?

6 speed box ,so when I got stuck on country roads behind cyclists tractors oaps etc I would have to down change one further than if it was 5 speed ,had to thrash it to get anywhere,not good on fuel,if I bumped the fob after locking it,sometimes it would drop door windows down abit,so I would go out in morning to find car seats wet or cat been in car. Went into limp mode once ,when I was going to kids school,so turned back home got other car,when I got back home called rac out,the car had reset its self so they couldn't find a fault code.And my biggest hate was it had some extra heater or something that would only work once it was down to 3 c ? So every autumn/winter it first came on it ,it would burn off the dust n crud built up throughout the year,so you would get a nasty smelling smoke come out the scuttle panel,and the smell would come into the cars cabin,first year it done it I took it couple mile back to the garage as thought it had electrical fault.

Vws are nowhere as good as they were in late nineties/early 2000s .

I prefer the citroen hdi.

Our xtr hdi berlingos out next year ,we are going for Auto 7 seater, probably c4 Picasso hdi.though I do like look of the Fiat 500L mpw ,but common sense will probably make go back to citroen.

Can I ask which engine you had mate out of interest?

 

If I have one I will get the 2.0 TDI 140 DSG and remap it to the 170 mark.

Hi Gaz, The Audi All Road is definitely a smart bit of kit but I just couldn't justify spending that much on a car that I was going to use for work and throwing the dogs in for a Muddy Mooch about in the Winter. To be honest I was torn between a Van, Estate Car, or a Hilux type of motor but because it has to be an all purpose motor and fairly economical due to the distance I have to travel to work everyday I opted for the Skoda Scout 4X4 which is by no means a full off road beast bust should get me around a few stubble field if needed...MPG wise its averaging around 40 to 50 mpg so happy with that and the space in the back is plenty big enough for the dogs and a few people,, Havent had it off road yet so don't know what that will be like but as I don't really go off road much its seems the best option for me... VRS Skoda is a nice motor too.. do they do them in 4X4 ?

You know what gaz ,I can't remember but if I had to guess I would say 1.6 diesel ,I expect the 2.0 could handle that 6 speed better.last few months we had it,it spent most the time on the drive and I preferred driving my old 53 plate berlingo I had at the time. As it was better on fuel.

I think you have chosen wel buddy. Seems like a real all rounder. I'm pretty sure the 4x4 used by skoda is the same as Audi Quattro and VW 4motion. I might wrong. But if it is the same you won't be disappointed.

 

I have weighed up my options and really don't need the 4 wheel drive. The worst I have to deal with is muddy verges or farmers tracks and I have always managed them in a front wheel drive vehicle.

 

If I needed the 4x4 I wouldn't hesitate going down the route you have gone down buddy.

Cheers fella it's good to hear off people who've had one when considering a new motor.

 

I did suspect you were gonna say the 1.6. Massively underpowered for a big motor in my opinion. 100bhp is just not enough, I completely get where you are coming from regarding 6th gear. It would probably never need it. Lol

Our berlingo is only 5 seater. But I think it's 110 or 115 goes really well, quite often can pull away on dual carriageway without changing down.
