Those smaller ones would make great eating.

The Irish term for them Eddie , if you remember, at that size is "A Grazer". I remember an old friend who'd shoot them at half that size . He said they were beautiful, who's to argue.

Years ago if you mentioned to someone you were going shooting rabbits they'd tell you to bring them back a couple of grazers. You don't hear it nowadays.

Yep, them we're the days! An auld fella down the road from me, would often stop me, and ask had I snares out. If I said i had, he'd say "bring me back a few back legs". Fussy fukcer! Lol.

 

Another auld boyo that worked in the local dump, (where I spent most my childhood) would ask for pike and perch. He'd fry them up in the dump with all the down and outs who used to hang out with him.

 

One day I brought him a bag a perch, and one big hoor of an eel! Next time I met him, i said, " well how'd ya get on with the fish?", he replied, "o they were gorgeous! Well apart from that feckin snake thing!" Lol

 

True story! Lol
