Yokel Matt 918
My first colony didn't make it through the winter due to what I assume was exposure as they weren't in the best spot and even seasoned beekeepersin the area said it had been a bad winter for them. Anyway.. I've just been given a strong nuc colony and also a smaller recently captured swarm as a bonus addition. I wasn't expecting the swarm and was originally going to combine the strong nuc with the surplus winter stores my bees didn't use (4x frames of capped honey + a few of drawn Combe) to get them started. Would it be a better idea to transfer the swarm straight into my old hive with all the winter stores and move my strong new nuc into a new brood box with fresh foundation to draw out?
