As a ex professonal nz deer culler I would go with the light force 170 it has the dimmr control , red lens filter, and adjustable beam. Overall a ex light setup and you can also get a mount for mounting on your scope. best of luck with what you decide :gunsmilie:

Cluson shootalite 2 on cz 22 good set up :drink::drink:

I use a 2d cell maglite mounted on my scope using bisley scope mounts the 2dcell battaries last around 3hrs but have a second pair "if required" I have found this quite a good set up and theres no hassle of wires or batt packs on my person. I can only comment from experience and find this bit of kit compact and precise to my needs I use it on my dedicated rifle for lamping the BSA Ultra .22 and have had numerouse results from it as I say I can only comment on what I have used and this suits me to the ground youy can have a look if you like on www.freewebs.com/nightcrawlerslodge/ in my guns section.

Hi..

Thats an interestiing one but isn't it a bit heavy, what sort of lamp range is that giving you? Like the idea of being without the wire though.

Cheers

A pal has just bought a Tracer Max with on/off, no dimmer. I was out with him on Thursday and its not bad, build quality is not great but a decent beam.

I can get a Unit, Mains Charger, dimmer switch, 7AH battery and belt bag, car charger, scope mount, for just over £100 (colour filters available extra).....

Anyone any comments overall/value for money/reliability etc.

Many thanks!

a mate has one on his remmy mod 7 in 22-250. he didnt like at first but got used to it and now uses it all the time. with the mod 7 being a light rifle anyway it feels like your holding a normal weight rifle maybe slightly heavy. the battery typically lasts something like 45 mins non stop or all night if its on/off all the time. he has a red filter with it which he uses alternately. he hasnt had any probs with it. saved his rifle once when it slipped from hand and he caught the lead lucky eh.

hope it gives you an idea.

Being the pal in question (I think :)), I recommend the Tracer Max ;) You're right on the build quality, could be better, but seems to do the job so I'm happy.

i bought a shootalite 2 (1mill cp) for a brief spell because i wanted a tighter beam for lurcher work without having to go to lightforce... for shooting the shootalite was bloody excellent and the flip up filters are damn good too... its only the size of an empty bean can and just as light... in the end i traded it in for the 170 because for lurcher work the beam wasnt tight enough for my liking... one thing about cluson is they are flippin reliable and versatile... its a shame the spot was'nt a bit tighter on them because i would have like to have stayed with clulites...

I use a Tracer Max, its paid for its self already with just the rabbits I shot. Picks up foxes a treat doesnt seem to spook them. Not much weight to them and easy to clip on/off. Cost about £46 just for the light got the batteries off ebay.
