gnipper 5,945
Mixed canary and dandelions was the best for mine. I spoilt my first goldies with too much good stuff and made them too lazy to tread.
fireman 10,774
First thing is a goldie cock will come into condition a lot later than your norwichs do and a lot of mule breeders will get a canary round out of thier birds before moving onto mule breeding because of this reason, but as Gnipper says dandilions, chickweed and plenty of wild food will trigger that natural "get yourself looking fit and smart" thing all males get when the females need a courting ...

Meroman 105
As Fireman & Gnipper have already said as much wild food as you can give them is the best way to bring Goldies into condition. You mentioned you have wild seed from last year so that will work but generally speaking at this time of year the dandelions and chickweed have not appeared yet but grounsel is starting to flower around now and it too is a great weed to feed your Goldie.

poxon 5,555
Wheatgerm oil in the soft food speeds them up coming in to condition plus extra day light hours
Meroman 105
Wheatgerm oil in the soft food speeds them up coming in to condition plus extra day light hours I agree with that but be careful not to overdo it... From January until April I add 15ml of wheatgerm oil to 1kg of seed mix then stop it. It can bring cock birds into condition way ahead of hens and result in the cocks driving the hens hard to nest and create problems.
