A few of the last ones I made, two Oak tops and a kids antler one. None of my sticks will win any prizes, because I do not like them like a snooker cue. Some say it's because I cannot get the straight

Stick in progress

Meaning to fit this head onto a nice stick so chose this hazel   Don't know how to Finnish it what you suggest

I'm using Ronseal garden furniture oil Cushty, its got waxes and resins in it, makes a good job, even for wading sticks. If i want to colour any bark off wood, sticks/catty's, i use van dyke crystals, natural stain you can alter the shade of easily. Tool station do a cheaper version of the Ronseal, seems just as good?

Should have added. I posted a long time ago about a product called Liquid Gold. Every wood surface in our house has it and in the workshop I could not be without it. Anything I turn gets treated. It's really really good.
