Think I'm missing it here. A G wagon has constant 4 wheel drive by virtue of the the fact that the diffs work together making each revolve at the same rpm. All wheels at all times are driving. Any other vehicle requires manual override from 2 to 4 wheel drive. Am I wrong? Also. A comment made about 4 wheel not being able to corner is a bit of fluff. We know that you can wind front and rear axles at a different rpm but to be honest it would take a lot of miles.

yes you are wrong ... a g wagon is 2 wheel drive till you select 4 wheel drive

They don`t usually work on ANY corners.

Discoverys are constant 4 wheel drive .. if your centre diff aint working you could of snapped a front half shaft and thats why your not getting any drive

I believe LR parts are half the price of German or Jap. Trouble is you need three times more of em.

A land rover discovery is constant 4wd with all 3 diffs open. When you do something challenging you lock the centre diff giving 50/50 drive to front and rear. Not many cars are true lockable 4wd it would cost an arm and leg to mod your truck to get all 3 diffs locked. But the discovery 2 doesnt have any lockable diffs as it used traction control to keep traction on the ground, thats how most modern cars work now

unimogs are constant 4wd but they are more tractors than cars, going back to discos they are prem 4wd in that the drive go to both axles the diff lock in the gearbox locks it so the power does not get send to where it thinks it needs it,

No car is constant 4wd.unlesd locking diff I always believed, they won't turn or go round corners if all 4 are pulling equally.

I can go round corners on my 4WD locked Diff, but its very hard work and a big turning circle, it also feels like the motor is trying to rip itself apart!

My Suzuki is the same in 4wd on tarmac it even tries to cock a back wheel if I go full lock its fine down roads ect just doesn't like a tight turning circle ... now I know why  Edited by kanny
