What sort of size are your X's coming out at? My bitch is about 12/13" tts now at just under 5 months! Whats your thoughts on exercising too young..if they want it let them rip or keep it steady? She's constant energy, she started coming with me on the push bike on short rides a bit now and runs on a bit but not far away. 1st photo back end last week finishing off our week long welsh summer! 2nd photo she took off on a scent ahead of me across a field to an old bridleway but didn't enter just stood at the top and had a good sniff around, Since i've bollocked her for going to ground she hasn't been below since! Stock breaking is next on my list she's developing a real bad habbit of sheep chasing so shes off to visit a few big balled tups tomorrow hopefully she learns quickly!

cocker x russell about 3year old, does plenty above ground and will do a little below of recent. Great little bitch, would not change her for nothing

He has turned out well mate. There’s a few off here seen him work. He’s spot on with the bushing, ferrets well considering he’s only been a couple of times. Depends what you are looking for. He’s only

Thats her

mine wouldnt stop growing, I weighed her one time for a worm dose and she was just 40lb and she wasnt fat or over weight. very hard to keep weight on her, ive tried everything, she just hyper. wont sit still in the pen. have her out all day, get her home and she still wont sit easy in the pen. Shes a bottomless pit, I dopnt know where she puts the food. Great bitch ferreting and not bad bushing, very good at marking and very soft mouted. I got her out pretty young ferreting as there was alot of stop and starting so she wasnt getting the legs ran off her too young. Good cross they are

Mine seems the same, everything I've done with her she's got back had 10 minutes sleep and ready to go again then! Did a 7 mile run with her the other night and it was like she hadn't even been.. Heard people say don't do too much too early on but she seems keen for it all the time!

Just weighed her up she's 7kg and 5 months next week so got a fair bit of growing left in her yet! Feeding raw 3 times a day and she can't get enough of it. I buy it pre made, feeding working dog raw which has a bit of extra fat chucked in and it's working well for her she has duck necks and lamb spines for extra too. Looking forward to bringing her on.she's the first dog I will have "worked" so big learning curve for me hoping to then add a running dog to the mix once I'm happy with her.

Sounds to me like you're off to a good start in terms of working dogs  Onwards and upwards...

A x i llways been interested in the ste.nice that

They are good mate! When you weigh it up they are perfect for crossing each other with, similar size but completely different dogs and if you get a nice balance between the two you get a handy little dog lol

always fancied one myself jo I have the terrier to cross with but the only trouble my way is mineshafts lurchers have got in them before so I think one of these type would get in

Such an appealing crossbreed for a multitude of jobs so these threads always attract me. I'm a big fan of both the base breeds though so not surprising. I'd love to be able to justify giving one a spin in the future but for my personal needs keeping terriers and spaniels for their specialist jobs is probably better. Maybe one day...

Nothing to add really other than 'nice dogs'!

Been out with Joe777 and white van man dogs a fair bit, I like them both. But they work in different ways imo, since losing my terrier earlier this year I've been considering this cross a lot, but think I would rather a 3/4 bred more terrier for the work I do.... wish i could of put 1 of em over my old terrier, think the pups from that would've suited me

Here's mine he's a mix of a couple of terriers and spaniels (a lot of cocker and patt) so not a first x cocker/terrier. As NEWKID says, he is a decent enough but he is still young at just over a year. He is still learning. If everything works out with him I would love to put him across something similar but maybe with a bit more terrier in the mix. Will see how things turn out. He had a good start working along side NEWKIDS terrier and he could have done with another year along side her really.
