Recommended Posts

Bristol City Council are planning to kill all the fish in one of the local parks to "deter angling".

Please take a minute to sign the petition and stop this crazy decision.

Granted over stocked duck ponds get fish with black spot or once a disease gets hold can wipe out areas in no time, an easy answer is to stock a fair few pike into it and they'll balance the stocks again, but to wipe out an entire pond of fish life because a few swans have been hurt over 20 yrs is just wrong, again protection gone mad, kill everything to stop man enjoying harmless fishing to save a swan, there's more danger to swans from foreigners eating them than fishing hooks. If this kill goes ahead what sort of trend will that set???? If young lads get into fishing it can keep them from getting into drugs or gangs, keep them on the straight n narrow, but that seems to get over looked, why can't a few fishermen take it over from the community and show that balanced lakes can thrive once top predators get introduced.

Been tried mate, without the anglers already maintaining the lake it would have been shut ages ago unfortunately BCC have a agenda and the "friends of the park" group are antis. The clip at 20mins explains a bit more of the reason behind the decision they just hate fishing so best solution in their eyes is kill the fish, no more anglers ! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C9Wzfmg7fjc

If the BCC charge say £5 a day ticket price, they can employ a warden/bailiff to monitor the water, provide education to people that need it(dont feed ducks etc bread) and to anglers on wildlife saftey

Killing things aint the answer
