Good on the 15 year old - anything that catches thieving poachers has to be a 'good thing'. Time everyone saw poaching as theft and it lost the 'romantic' tag.

Give them all a criminal record - no more shooting.

I have no time for theft and thieves of any sort.

how do they own the land, because they bought it from someone who bought it from someone etc, etc, etc who originally either drove off any inhabitants who hunted it and worked it or claimed it as theirs and all the creatures there in.Basically it was stolen away from the common man who then stopped being self sufficient and became a serf at the owners bidding.often not being allowed to hunt.Any thoughts anyone

Aye....that's bollocks
why?

Aye....that's bollocks

Why?
Because they do own it....whether you like it or not. I've no problem with poaching wild game.....different story when it comes to pheasants though that someone has worked hard to rear and some c**t comes along and thinks there easy pickings.

exsactly...a keeper is worth one thing....his birds.... the second he falls below standard with his birds he WILL be in the firing line..what if he has wife and bairns? what happens if your curs running thru a wood causes the birds to desert it? causing a drive to fail? causing percentages to fall? their a big number of estate owners out their who know their s a big number of keepers willing to jump into boots.but then thier any ones birds eh? game owned by no one? yeh surethe keeper hasn't spent all summer killing himself rearing tens of thousands of birds.. pheasnts are NOT wild game reared game birds are NOT their for the taking they represent property and the skill of the man who has reared them and is holding themfeddal17.jpg feddal16.jpg feddal14.jpgfeddal3.jpg wild game their for the taking eh?feddal2.jpg feddal6.jpg feddal12.jpg and a keepers value?? forget the image of the old keepers serving generation on the same place....let me tell you what his value is...and how easy it can be f****d up by some scrote with "the right" game%20book%205.jpg numbers....thats what its aboutgame%20book.jpg game%20book%204.jpg game%20book%202.jpg game%20book%203.jpg
you talk about numbers , and understandably the mans doing his job , with possibly a wife and kids to feed , but ..... What happens when a keeper moves onto an estate with plenty to go at his last estate was a bit baron , or he's a bit trigger happy , or got new species of deer to go at , has his fill bleeds the place dry kills the lot then decides he wants to play game keeper somewhere else , how long will it take numbers to recover ??? And let's be honest , ALL keepers bend the rules every one of them don't they !!

Any wild or released animal or bird belongs to no man,no matter how much land they own and the amount of folk they pay to cater for their needs. The facts are that 5% of the population own over 90% of our Isles because of the side they took around 1066.Its land that was earnt through theft and is brushed aside as history now and certain folk are still hell bent on regulating ancient statutes that were put in place to protect the b*****d landowner and punish the serf. The serf deserves the same access to our Land and the fauna it holds more than the b*****d landowner that hides behind ancient statutes that were less than democratic.Ive more than enough time for an honest keeper that needs to protect his job, salary and family, ive no time for a keeper that takes that task on with relish.

they belong to who ever catches them wether its a boy catching a bunny, a bop catching a poult or a heron catching a trout. You catch it, its yours lol

Exactly God put them there fora reason no one owns a wild animal

Not saying don't do it, that's your call. But you've got to accept it is what it is, and not try to make out the keeper as an arsehole if he catches you and batters you!

You can hardly blame them.

didn't mention deer parks once did I and yes pheasants are wild once released into the wild and fair game to anyone who wants to take one for the pot don't like it don't release pheasants into the wild to put it simple plus good luck to any keeper who tries battering me as he wont get far I tell you that

I don't poach anymore but the keeper near me could not batter a 5 year old kid he is about 65 bow legs and about 5ft 3 16 stone

Anarchy is a foul brew, feeling sorry for yourself is reprehensible. I own a bit of land but have been invited to shoot on a far greater amount. A lot has happened since 1066, even though you may wish it hadnt, to support your unusual view.

Poaching wild game is criminal, the right to take it runs with the land and belongs to he who owns it - i am sure your view would change if it was your land or you paid for a shooting lease.

i can understand regards birds on any ground, as ive done alot of beating over the years, if say birds = partridge have been disturbed , and there no shooting there the following day, or the same with pheasants moved away from the owners woods . So yes if you paid alot of money to shoot on that ground, yes you dont want anybody around there . But if you not by any woods , and not by any partridge's , your just in fields after rabbits , or the odd charlie that you might bump into , you doing No Harm , and after all if you got the od charlie , that helping any keeper deff. The bottom line is they dont want anybody on there land, and it was the same in 1930s and it no different now , but getting few rabbits ,they keeper landowners etc should turn a blind eye to it .:yes:

      Hi!
I am looking to collect some game feathers from local shoots (Oxfordshire) for crafting purposes.
I know eBay and other sites sell them but not in the quantity I need.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
I am willing to go and pick them up.
      Many Thanks!

I found. Two dead poults near two different drinkers.  There was a little bit of blood on a feeder near on of them. Both show no signs of be predated upon  no sign of disease. No discharge nothing the waters where cleaned two days ago but these are the first dead birds I have found in the pen. Usually I'd take them to the vet to get checked but the boss doesn't wanna do that  so are there any other signs that could point to a disease ect ??

      Hello

My name is Paul, i am 20 years old and i am from Grimsby in Lincolnshire.

I have recently had an interview for a Gamekeeping Apprenticeship at Bishop Burton college in Yorkshire and I have been offered a place so long as i can find employment but being in the north east Lincolnshire area Gamekeepers seem to be few and far between, i have contacted the major local estate (brocklesby estate which is owned by the Earl of Yarborough) and some smaller estates ran by farmers and the only replies i seem to be getting are "we aren't looking to employ anyone else" which is fair enough but also rather disappointing but hey, what can you do.

I am posting here to see if there are any people out there that may know someone that could take me on or actually take me on themselves in or around the Grimsby area?(30 mile radius)

      I have experience in:

      - organised shoots as I was a beater at my local shoot (no gamekeeper, it is ran by volunteers)

      - pest control as I often shoot pigeons and rabbits for the local farmer.

      - Handling rifles and shotguns

I can drive so transport is no problem. I am looking to work within a 25-30 mile radius of Grimsby.

The employer has a possibility of gaining a £1500 grant if they take me on which is provided by the college (the government have the final say however as it goes through them + Terms and conditions apply)

I am willing to do trial runs

I can do voluntary work to gain experience.

If there is anyone out there that will be able to help me it would be more than appreciated.

If anyone has any offers or information then please contact me via my email - Pldiplock@gmail.com

This is one of the latest films i did for angus moorland group. We tried to show in the film the education behind gamekeeping and the young people that want to become gamekeepers and what drives them. Let me know what you think. Very excited to be making more of these throughout the year.
