Preventing Poaching In The Uk

Recommended Posts

I don't mind poaching for a bit sport to beet the keeper or for the pot to feed a mans children.

The thing is poaching has become a more commercial business where entire herds of deer are being targeted for the underground meat trade. This is what must be stopped and if the lad wants to invent something to help this very real problem then good on him.

So I'm guessing your a deer man. Great attitude....f**k keepers as long as they don't touch my deer. Which coincidentally you don't even pay to look after. f***ing cheek.

speaking from both sides of the law having been a gamekeeper whos estate prosecuted for poaching and having been prosecuted for poaching.....THL is NOT the place to get sound advice about this topic

Wild??? Pheasants??? Deer parks? Etc.   Big difference between poaching some bunnys etc and a lot of other stuff, some poaching does basically involve robbing someones stock, taking their assets et

i am an all rounder if you must know deer, pheasant, grouse, salmon, trout. My brother had a shoot until somebody broke into his pens and took them all. Hence why i am sticking up for the lad who wants to help where others are simply ripping the poor lad to pieces.

What i was saying is that poaching of one pheasant for the pot isn't what we are talking about anymore. Its a large scale organised crime operation now.

I pay with my money for deer feed to feed deer during hard winters and i also get appropriate garden waste were i can and take it up on the quad to help the deer. It keeps them going and limits the damage they do.

Who the f#*k are you to have a go at me & what are you doing to help and support the wildlife and the field sport community?

Its you who has the f##king cheek!

Well im not picking and choosing what fieldsport I like best and putting another down.

So you put a few blocks down and think your the saviour of deer...?

Once you start putting your hard earned cash and time into it you'll realise how hard keepering is without the "one for the pot" brigade chip in.

Danny.308. Calm son. I'll be one of them trolls but mean it in a nice kind of way. How does your schoolboy learn about poaching if he doesn't get involved? How many deer herds has he encountered and does he realise that they are a meat herd, probably for the Supermarket chain. I had 20 brace of birds dropped at mine last night not knowing where they originated but grateful none the less. Actually, as they were brace tied I would think from a shoot. How exactly do you think someone in a classroom is going to implement an anti poaching product?

Don't know his background tbh jok, might be a game keepers son, might be a beater i am not sure. The app just pinpoints your location so you then make a report to the police. Its not going to stop anything but like i say he has taken a proactive approach. I don't think anyone has the answer really. But i do like the fact that there are people out there willing to try.

      Hi!
I am looking to collect some game feathers from local shoots (Oxfordshire) for crafting purposes.
I know eBay and other sites sell them but not in the quantity I need.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
I am willing to go and pick them up.
      Many Thanks!

I found. Two dead poults near two different drinkers.  There was a little bit of blood on a feeder near on of them. Both show no signs of be predated upon  no sign of disease. No discharge nothing the waters where cleaned two days ago but these are the first dead birds I have found in the pen. Usually I'd take them to the vet to get checked but the boss doesn't wanna do that  so are there any other signs that could point to a disease ect ??

      Hello

My name is Paul, i am 20 years old and i am from Grimsby in Lincolnshire.

I have recently had an interview for a Gamekeeping Apprenticeship at Bishop Burton college in Yorkshire and I have been offered a place so long as i can find employment but being in the north east Lincolnshire area Gamekeepers seem to be few and far between, i have contacted the major local estate (brocklesby estate which is owned by the Earl of Yarborough) and some smaller estates ran by farmers and the only replies i seem to be getting are "we aren't looking to employ anyone else" which is fair enough but also rather disappointing but hey, what can you do.

I am posting here to see if there are any people out there that may know someone that could take me on or actually take me on themselves in or around the Grimsby area?(30 mile radius)

      I have experience in:

      - organised shoots as I was a beater at my local shoot (no gamekeeper, it is ran by volunteers)

      - pest control as I often shoot pigeons and rabbits for the local farmer.

      - Handling rifles and shotguns

I can drive so transport is no problem. I am looking to work within a 25-30 mile radius of Grimsby.

The employer has a possibility of gaining a £1500 grant if they take me on which is provided by the college (the government have the final say however as it goes through them + Terms and conditions apply)

I am willing to do trial runs

I can do voluntary work to gain experience.

If there is anyone out there that will be able to help me it would be more than appreciated.

If anyone has any offers or information then please contact me via my email - Pldiplock@gmail.com

This is one of the latest films i did for angus moorland group. We tried to show in the film the education behind gamekeeping and the young people that want to become gamekeepers and what drives them. Let me know what you think. Very excited to be making more of these throughout the year.
