To show of the grain to its best ( and I'm not slagin) this is a genuine question ! Leeview 787 Posted October 5, 2015 Report Share Posted October 5, 2015 Variable What wood is it? natural or stained? remember a light stain is darker than natural, and natural can be lightened its too dark now so will have to be stripped first using yellow nitromors most of these stocks are finished with a tinted lacqer so the wood wont be stained, use cling film as mentioned previously Y.I.S Leeview Quote Link to post

It's looked the same shape as yours. You could try out a bit of carving. BTW I am a carpenter joiner but polishers rule in these matters. Think I would try to put a bit of a grip groove at the forend in place of the checkering. We all have our methods but am sure you will have it just how you want it and is looking good so far.
