The only two things I freeze from the garden these days is runner beans and parsley. I do the runner beans as it says in your link. And when I use them I find it best to pop them straight into boiling salted water still frozen.

 

The parsley I chop in a blender then use small tubs to freeze it in. 3/4 fill the tub with the chopped parsley then fill with water and freeze, for cawl I make larger tubs and parsley sauce about the amount you get in two ice cube blocks. Both are added frozen.

 

To get cheap parsley plants buy a tub of fresh grown stuff in the supermarket and you will get around 20 plants out of it, separate it out and plant up in good compost and apply a high nitrogen fertiliser once every couple of weeks. Works a treat.
