When I used to work on a shoot I was looking after the smallest of woods I doubt could Call it a wood it was more like a covert of a few oak trees really, the count when I finneshed after the summer was 970 they just kept coming I used to run trap line and shoot them, there was some houses nearby and a row of poplar trees that would run up to the main house gardens then into the small covert so I guess once I took a few out more would move along the tree line and take over the covert, pheasant feeders where the main attraction and I could easily catch up to ten a day on my trap line

Ferret food...my ferrets don't get a sniff of them!! Too tasty

So I keep getting told, I just can't fancy em , too much like a rat for me, should be more open minded I guess doing what I do. :hmm:

Get a few big bucks and take the back legs off them and slice off the saddles. Chuck the rest unless you like making stews and broths from carcases. They are a pain to skin, but the meat is well worth it.

I find if you soak the meat for 24 hours in butter milk in fridge the dip in batter and fry them there a good tasting meat....also if you soak them in a good spicy marinade and the grill there quiet hard to beat

Mainly to the plastic feed drums so we started using metal drums and placing tunnels undernearth the feeders and would check traps in morning and by the time you had came back round hour later you had another one , never seemed to check a trap that was empty, I even used to run a plank between two trees put a bait station in the middle and fen traps either side of the bait and would pick loads up that way
