Struggling to see how lads are struggling to feed the ferrets flesh year round.   You heard of chest freezers?   Don't you're dogs pick the odd bunny up on walks?   Don't you have an air rifle?

Didnt mean to be sarcastic pal, so i apologise, but in my opinion, you are depriving them of their natural diet, meat n bone, i get the flies, but i deal with it, if you must feed biscuits, then cat b

If you feed the cheapest possible bag of cat food that is the same as feeding your dog Wagg or some similar crap made up of floor sweepings, feathers, beaks, grain, beet pulp, soya and God knows what

I've got 10 kits here that have only seen flesh. Duck, pigeon, magpie, pheasant, rabbit, hare, squirrel.

I don't do much hunting compared to lads on here but I make sure my freezer is always full. And I've filled my mates freezer a couple of times last winter to help him out because he's been struggling to get out with work.

Hi I'm my sixties now and had ferret nearly all my life, when I was a youngster we used feed them on bead and milk an egg now and then rabbits livers when we got them. I feel so guilty about that, we were ignorant we didn't know any better it was what are fathers taught us. We didn't even have freezers. Now with the internet we can find out all sorts at the touch of a button. Ferrets lasted 3 to 5 years now may 8 to 10 didn't know about jill jabs as well. I spoil my ferrets now (I think) vitamin malt lick, handful of dried food Alpha or James Wellbeloved through the day and in the evening hand feed strips of meat and an egg once a week. Not rabbit though just my theory that if they kill they don't stop and seems to work for me, they usually out after 15 minutes. I would be interested if anybody else does this or finds it works.

I would definitely not feed cat food to ferrets. I don't want to have put a hard hat on or have a war about it.

My ferrets have names as they are more than a tool to do a job.

Hi,

I used to feed with complete ferret food, now flesh only.

I'm positive feeding flesh/carcasses has a very positive effect for them. They are much more content, good teeth, keen etc. Not only does it fill there bellies, imo I think it fulfills other needs (more natural). So behaviourally better for them, a form of enrichment.
