Daystate Regal .177 Becoming A Great Rifle Worthy Of A Second Glance.

such a shame that a company puts units out the door above customer satisfaction and value for money.a doomed scenario.word of mouth speaks volumes when that word turns against you.start counting your chickens before they have hatched.but the inevitable will follow.

Fair play Simon for saying that about the regal ,after all the bad press on forums about them .

I would have another one tomorrow , only if they removed the cheap shroud and put a nice blued barrel on and made it shoot like they should .

I even spoke to Darrin (XTX AIR ) about putting on a blued barrel and a reg before i had my money back on it , but about another £300 on top of the £800 i spent on the gun ,it was a no brainer buy another HW100 kt

Thing is Mitch, if it's bad it should be called out.. If it's good it should be praised. There's nothing wrong with the Regal once you get it serviced and tuned properly. But you currently need an outside gunsmith to do it and, you should not have to pay for that after-market work with a rifle costing this much money, becdause the service and quality control people at Daystate are not doing what they should at the production and finishing stages.

And I totally agree with you about the finish. I want to see rich, deep, lustrous blueing to contrast with the walnut Marinelli stocks. Not that semi-matt paint finish currently in use. It's another cheap cost short-cut tthat does it no favours. And it'sd a poor argument to say it cuts down reflective glare from the sun, when they fitted it with a polished silver bolt!

I'm sure Tony Belas set the business up with the ideal of building the finest air rifles with Pride Of Britain stamped all through it. But it's falling short of that ideal.

I doubt I'll buy another PCP, when I have spring rifles that are much better. But the Regal is a beauty that needs a bit of extra TLC - AFTER you get it home!

Why bother with it then, when the HW100 has it all there, right out the box! That's the difference between us Brits and the Germans.

It's the same reasons we cannot make anything properly at all in this country. Our businesses want to build Rolls Royces and charge Rolls Royce prices to rich people. Then try to see how cheaply they can build them for bigger profits. Not how beautiful and efficient

Personally, I'd love the job of taking the REGAL on and project-managing the thing properly, all down the line to sales and Marketing. I would probably tread on a few toes, But you'd get a rifle worthy of the price tag at least, and Tony Belas would have a competetive business with the Germans!!

That's what makes so annoying bernie67. Daystate have a brilliantly good rifle here with their Regal. I've pulled off some great evening's rabbit shooting with mine this summer. But the company are making a bollocks of a job passing them out with flimsy fit of barrel sleeves, bolt issues and poor under-power performance.

It wouldn't take anything from them to do the job right in the first place. As it is, you almost have to expect to pay for servicing and tuning one youirself if you really wamt one from new.

Only the British can project-manage with that kind of incompetence. A great product badly produced.

Oh yes - best of British !

I recently bought an Air Arms TX 200 HC .177 and i find this rifle to be superb in all departments.

Main points,

Accuracy, - outstanding, - German Walther barrel.

Handling and looks , Minneli stock.

The rest is British though, i think ?
