Taking On A Student Over The Summer

Recommended Posts

Thanks all for your advice , I have not ruled out the idea altogether , but I am not sure I want to have one this season . As much as I want to help the next generation , I also don't want to put anyone off either . Some of the things keepers have to do are best not shared with the inexperienced or impressionable .

Nowadays ,colleges have a responsibility of care whether on campass or not so you will have guide lines.I take appretices in the construction industry and the hoops to jump through are rediculous to be honest ,far more than you will encounter mate but its grant funded so when a good one comes along it works well .You will have public liability in place yourself either personally or through your employer so ring up your broker and add a second person on a temp basis .All the doom and gloom merchants need to think back about their first start however it was obtained .You willl need to have a first aid plan in place as well as health and safety .My advice would be to vet a few lads then try one for the summer.Do your bit to educate the next gen mate .Clooege students are very often drivers too .

We've had 4 lads this season and not one has stuck the work

One lad had completed his 2 year course at plump ton and couldn't tell the difference between partridge and pheasant

Other said the hours we work are illegal and another lasted 3 hours

We'll see how long the fourth lasts but he's undecided on being a keeper or not yet
