Chris, the Female Spar will take Wood Pigeons like John stated also. The Males, called Muskets obviously due to their much smaller size than the Female can only manage smaller quarry like Tits, Sparrows and larger birds such as Song Thrush and Black birds. However, through study and experience sometimes larger birds are taken. Many years ago a Falconer friend of mine took a cock Pheasant with his Female which one in the wild would never do so; and i've never heard or seen such a recorded happening. Also their prey items are so vast in the wild and the Sparrow Hawk is an incredible taker of all winged prey.

My best regards. Lutra Lutra......
