How To Attract Ducks

Recommended Posts

Nice set up and folk are right about call ducks. Put your hide up now if I were you too, if you use one. Covers heavy though, might be worth cutting back a bit.

Best of luck with it.

Barley soaked in a barrell with molassas, very good to draw in ducks, not a lot of width in the pool for an island in the middle,i reckon a fox could almost jump onto an island from the outer banks, maybe not.

If a fox wants on a island it'll get there, no ifs no buts.

Feed it & they shall come, just be patient

thats why a wider pond would be better mate make charlie swim to island and ducks will take some catching and usually old charlie will soon give up chasing them in the water and call ducks will be safe

Just my own opinion but I don't like the use of call Ducks as they can sometimes be aggressive to wild Ducks . Sure they will start using it at some point . Are you sure no one has been using a rife near it at night! Also is there any Otters or Mink in the area.

That looks a nice spot for a pond with good flight lines, as others have said a little wider would not hurt, if it's a new dug pond then give it a chance to settle, keep disturbance to a minimum, certainly in the evening, only visit/feed during day times for a start, keep people and dogs away from it. Food + water will = duck, once they find it and you keep the food going in they will be there in numbers.

You have a lake nearby, is it fed ? Or shot ? I would have expected duck on yours pretty easy if I am honest without the need for callers, but as a last resort call ducks will bring them in, however charlie loves a pinioned duck, so the more water you have for them the better.
