Rat bites are dirty but the rubbish and crap they live among can also cut dogs and can cause infection too. We used to rat a dump and we used to give the terriers a shot before the hunt started. budgie123 163 Posted November 28, 2014 Report Share Posted November 28, 2014 I have just had my dog vaccinated and i have had to take him back for a second leptospirosis vaccination{weils disease from rat urine). She inforrmed me that recently two new strians of leptospirosis have been discovered and this is what the second jab is given for.
