They are hardy but as long as theirs somewhere for the bird to get out of drafts rain etc then that's fine perches at different levels some in the weather some not one of mine baths in its bath when it snows! Where another of mine sits under the shelter. They are all individual

Treat snow like the cold as long as it's got at least a half roof and not totally open fronted that's fine

Mike the main thing is to consider is damp and wind. If your hawk is going to be tetherd down use a perch at least 18inch of the ground and away from any draughts. Harris hawks are tough as old boots but this does not mean you cant useabit of common sense regarding the housing also if there is a cold frost forcast her food intake may be higher

Thanks for the advice really appreciated, on a night dropping a blind across the mesh at the front woudlnt be a bad idea then i suppose,

What sort of material do you use for your blind, i was thinking plasric so doesnt soak up the water rather than hessian, any thoughts?? Thanks Mike

I used tar pooling with a batten fixed to the bottom for weight.

When i hAd my mews I had a 6 x 12 shed took the floor out and sat it on blocks (so the shed had 1 block all the way around it) the blocks were 9 inch high I filled it 6 inch deep with pea gravel the front I put a mesh window in and when weather got realy bad would cover it up. The window was about 3 x 4 which leg enought air and light in.....might not av been up to iff standards but was dry safe large enuf for her to spred her wings and kept her away from the elements
