Hi all, thought id do a little write up on my border.

Shes 1 1/2 and great, me and the wife don't have kids (im trying) so this little dog is our "baby" , I know you shouldn't but we all do luv um don't we. She sleeps in the bed and shares a shower with me, but I don't care.

We bought her as a pet but from a "working" home, ive always liked the look of a boarder so we just got her on a whim.

Ive read a lot about the breed so knew what I was in for, but what a bloody good dog she is. Shes great with kids and family, my parents and the inlaws adore her.

When she was younger we took her out and I took the 12g with me just to put a shot off to she what see would do, she didn't flinch, good.

any way 1 1/2 years on shes still nuts when I walk through the door at nigh, but im most impressed when we go out.

I haven't got another dog so she can learn and its my first terrier, so its quite hard to train her,but shes getting there.

we've only been out a few times but she gets better and better every time we go out and I luv every minute,

Shes pushing rabbits and pheasents out for left and centre, shes works the hedges and has a keen nose. but by god she can be subborn.

we were working a hedge and I heard a rabbit squeal ahead, of she goes and I her a munch and crunch and her she comes out of the braches with a half grown rabbit in her mouth , good girl. But she wont leave them alone haha.

Well im off to bed now ( and the dog) ,

happy hunting , and sorry for going on just a pround dad (haha)

I remember years ago i was out on one of my usual walks with the lurcher and i met some fella who was walking a border, now this dog was going ape through the cover following its nose, yapping and basically doing all the things a good rabbit terrier does. Anyway i had a chat with this fella and it turned out this dog was just a pet and the fella didn't even know what a working dog was. what a waste i thought. atb daywalker.

Got a 13 month old border it's like a switch has just been turned on n he's in n out the bushes like a good un, caught his first rabbit the other day so pretty pleased. Really enjoying gettin out n about with him. Mind he's getting a larl bit scrappy with other males even though he's been well socialised do you think he'll steady when he gets a bit older? Looking forward to hearing more about your outings. All the beat

been out now every week and shes getting better and better , ish.

shes abit slow for the fist 10 min but then kicks in,

what annoys me abit is that she doesn't go into the hedges or bushes unless she can smell anything.

but what I have been doing is when shes in I throw a stone or what ever in front of her so she moves up the hedge and I just walk along.

a rat ran in front of her last Saturday she didn't half jump haha

I wouldn't be to fussed about her not going in if there's no scent mate. No point in her going in if there's nothing in there. That jmo tho. Think to much encuraging a dog to go in to cover can waste a lot of time.you say she's only been out a few times I'm sure the more you take her and the more experianced she gets the better shell become for you.
