Mk6 Fenn Traps

Just wondered if anyone knows if i can you mk6 fenns for weasels stoats and squirrels or ar they to big any help please

I have caught stoats, plenty of grey squirrels, a lots of rats, from greys to big bucks, in my mk6's, so i dont see why not

Yes just make sure you have the hight clearance and they will work fine..

Exactly as is said above, just make sure the tunnels are tall enough, but not to tall, or they could be sprung clear of the trap

Caught loads when block trapping rabbit burrows I wouldn't set them in a man made cubby to trap them i would use mk4s but I never took a life one out a mk6

Mk6s are a bit big for deliberately setting for weasels . Its only my opinion but I rate the Mk6 as a far superior and more humane trap for squirrels than the Mk4.

By law the must be either in the rabbit tunnel, or a artificial one...... find the rabbit sets, set them in the holes the fit in, and block up the rest

If he is trapping squirrels weasels etc he don't want to be setting them in rabbit warrens....in a woodland just make a tunnel out of what's at hand or use wire mesh.

Quick questions Re, using Mk6 traps in a loft:

 

Do you still need to put them in a tunnel indoors?

If not, do they still work better in a tunnel?

Does loft insulation count as a tunnel?

For the purpose of restricting non-target access some say the loft hatch and roof might be acceptable . But a roof is not a tunnel .

So the answer to your question has to be that you need some sort of tunnel not only to stay legal on the non-target front but to guide the quarry onto the plate at the right angle..

Fenns were designed to be used in tunnels with a firm roof that allows the jaws to close but doesn't leave too much head room for the quarry to flip upwards.

In a loft situation with little risk of non-targets the tunnel, perhaps, does not need to be as long as you would use when trapping outdoors as long as its not set too close to the eves where birds might roost.
