David.evans 5,323
Over the last month I have been nite shooting at different stages of the moon , and found a vast difference, Full moon -not very good No moon - great And as the moon fades from full to none , shooting get better This is obvious, that the Shadow that is cast , makes it easier for quarry to see you . I'm talking about open fields and allowed for wind direction What's your thoughts Dave Quote Link to post

villaman 9,979
We have found with no moon not many rabbits ,as they cant see a lot , but with a good moon loads of rabbits as they can see any danger . We have found this on all of our permissions . Quote Link to post
David.evans 5,323
VM Has your perms got plenty of cover, ie where shadows are not cast ( in full moon ) Or do you keep to hege lines ect . Or hold up Dave Quote Link to post
3175darren 1,093
It seems to vary darker the better agreed, but some times waiting under a tree in a full moon with the wind in your face,or even in a covering of snow, certainly helps with the lamp shy foxes, but I find dark as can be with a moderate wind and a touch of occasional rain in the air, happy happy happy day's :clapper:but then you here of the boys shooting the moon for wildfowl,as to the actual pull of the moon faze itself will probably affect fishing a lot more, Quote Link to post
The one 8,396
As you said full moon no up to much , but if your trips on a full moon do you say feck it ? we still go it helps if the rabbits are no lampshy Quote Link to post
Cedric 132
I love a full moon, even if it's not so good for rabbits detecting you. I find it a sureal experience wandering round the moon lit countryside, especially if it's calm and quiet. 1 Quote Link to post
pointer 543
Even around buildings if the moon is out it usually means less rats are out and about on any place I've been shooting on. It's usually not as good if it's near freezing as well. Quote Link to post
wirral countryman 2,110
The full/ half moon is great for killing birds without a lamp, as a kid and sometimes now I get out on the birds from autumn onwards, no leaves just bare trees, a real test of how good a poacher you are, open sights hunting in the dark, love it, atb, WM Quote Link to post
Wildling 520
We find that our shooting is much better after consulting the Stars and checking the Zodiac positions for that day.................. Quote Link to post
ghillies 209
full moon is definatly a case of how far can you see? times that by 10 for the bunny....they see you an hour before you get there lol. Quote Link to post
