what does the Balut taste like? Considering they are such a "regular" food on the streets all over the Phillipines I figured they had to taste good?

 

And what is rough salt? Is that like Rock Salt?

Rough salt is sea-salt,home-made stuff,fill half a bamboo with sea-water,let the water evaporate,scrape off the salt,thats what we used to do They are an aquired tatse to be honest,I told my mate Chirs to crunch and swallow without looking,he didnt follow my advice and projectile-vomited,most guys wash them down with a san-mig

You peel the top off your egg,drink the embryonic "Soup"then take the rest of the shell off,sprinkle with salt,and start crunching,I cant really explain the taste to be honest,very salty'n'savoury,I know you can buy them in the states,got a lot of family in California who eat them often,get some ducks and make some They have even started selling them in London now in Earls court,the pinoy enclave

I HAVE EATEN MOST OF THE ITEMS MENTIONED,,STRANGE NO ONE HAS MENTIONED EATING SPARROWS ,I ONCE ATE ABOUT TWENTY SPARROWS BREASTS TASTED THE SAME AS STARLINGS TO ME...ANYWAY THE MOST DISGUSTING THING I HAVE EATEN WAS EATEN AS A DARE IT WAS THE LARGEST SLUG MY SO CALLED MATE COULD FIND ON THE FLOOR..TRUST ME IT WAS ABSOLUTLY DISGUSTING,IN FACT I GOT BACK HOME ASAP AND BIT AND CHEWED A BAR OF SOAP TO HELP TRY GET RID OF THE TAST AND GLUE LIKE CRAP THAT WOULD NOT DISSOLVE,,ANYONE THINKS THEY ARE NOT SO BAD ,,,,,,JUST TRY ONE,,IF YOU DARE,,THEY ARE FREE AND PLENTY TO GO AROUND,YOU WILL BE REALLY SUPRISED HOW BAD THEY ARE.
