Ammo Cabinet

Recommended Posts

I've got a Brattonsound ammo cabinet that measures approx 250mm x 250mm x 380mm high.

I want to put a shelf in it instead of having everything piled up. Obviously i don't want to drill the sides.

Any ideas how to put a shelf in and what to make it of?

Lets have a visual then? I have a mental image of a bit of rough sawn fencing timber wedged in on the piss and 'fixed' with no nails. LOL

Hope the shelf falls apart and you drop all your bullets

will it come with a pair of gloves ? You wouldn't want to get sued for the sake of a few splinters

A small metal box on it's side, with the top (open hole of the box) facing the open section of the cabinet, measuring the same size as half the cabinet. That'll sit snugly, while also providing a platform/shelf style section.

So the double lines are the box on it's side, sat at the bottom of the cabinet.

Does that make sense?

Yes it does. Cheers. I think finding a box of those dimensions might be a bit of a task though.

Just drill the sides.

X4 3mm holes won't cause any structural problems for the cabinet.

I had to side mount one of mine and drill new holes. I contacted bratton sound to see if it would affect the warranty and was told it wouldn't.

Another option is those magnets they use outside sainsburys to pin up banners. They are bloody strong and 4 would easily take the weight of a shelf.

Sorted  Half and hour and a bit of swearing and I have a lovely shelf with no holes.

Doesn't look very strong though.

If you'd of lived closer mate I would have charged you double :laugh:

You didn't really build a shelf did you? You just found a metal box, didn't you? Haha

Yes, I found a metal box exactly 1mm smaller than the cabinet and the perfect height that luckily fitted in past the hinges and lock. Stroke of luck eh? :D
