We'll last year the blue tits nested in a bird box in the garden and it kept me occupied watching all summer so during the winter I have purchased a camera box and put it in the place of my old bird b

Just an update in case anyone is still interested, they have continued building the nest and its getting quite high and close to the camera now, thank god they have stopped filling the box and started

Forgot to add I seen camera boxes at the range for £35 quid, best put them up before winter and you can still see the odd bird sleeping in it to get out of the cold and get them used to it for a nesting site too.

Well a update out of the 9 eggs laid 8 hatched then since updating 4 have died leaving 4 very healthy chicks. I dunno where the chicks went they dissapeared from the nest so I expect the parents removed them. I could not see any chick bodies under the box so they must have carried them away like they have with the poo sacks. Here's a video clip from last week.......

Growing fast. Proberbly leave the nest soon as they look out of the bird box hole a lot. I'll stick my trialcam out tommorow and hope the batteries last long enough to see them fledging.

They fledged first thing in the morning before I got chance to put the trialcam out, gutted! Surprised as they still had lots of fluff on them and didn't look ready to fledge! Oh well it was great to have seen this and can't wait until next spring!

Cheers

They were selling bird boxes complete with colour cameras and all the kit from £50 at the Royal Cornwall Show last week.

I was busy and didn't get chance to see the tits in my box fly but opened it the other day and there was 2 cadavers and one egg left in there so msut have been at least 4 chicks made it.

I removed what was left, they may have another brood.

Cheers, D.

Great dytkos it sounds like 4 is a common number to fledge from what I hear. Fingers crossed we get another brood! I'm looking to get a decent camera soon, I was watching a barn owl last night and could have got some great pics. I got one on my phone but its not too clear.
