What Is The Range Of A 12 Bore Shotgun?

As I said above I have trouble knowing the range of my shotgun ,45% of shots I don"t take is because I am not sure, The other 55% is because I sort of freeze I will aim and follow but don"t take the shot ,TIPS PLEASE?

I set up 40/55 yds max with decoys with 2 traditional patterns, 20 yards apart anything in this zone drops, 6-7 size will drop pigeon size birds @ 55/60 yd max with 30-32gr carts. Although shot will & shall drop much further away with no effective damage

Aim to get the birds into your pattern as close as possible and in a way that presents them nicely.

 

That's the art of decoying, coaching days help no end, field craft is the best back up though.

I can remember sitting in a hide with my dad as a young teenager, missing birds on the last fold of their wings into the pattern, but hitting 40-50yrd crossers with the second shot.He was tearing his hair out!

 

Practice, there is ALWAYS plenty of time for the shot no matter what you are shooting or with.

 

I hit a dead spot in my swing across my body, but it can be allowed for.

 

Always used 6's in 28-32gr and found that 50yrds was the maximum reliable distance.
