Leather is not weatherproof. Hide, when attached to its original owner is. Leather is dead skin, which unless cared for will absorb water. Goretex is there as a safety net for when dead skin soaks up

Ive just got the gamekeepers so far so good

B.P.R will be along soon hell explain them all to you .(if you buy a game carrier)

Had a pair of Altbergs cant remember the model were ok but had Meindls since way better investment , Vakkums are great and im in them all day clocking up mileage i so wanted the Altberg to be good as there british made but found them to be like a basic military boot,Meindl way better IMO.

Depends what you want from your boot whether you hunt

On hill, field or fen? There's lots of variation in the altberg boots

From the ultra light sneakers to the more rugged boots like the gamekeeper

And high moor

I wanted a high boot with good support

Also waterproof so I went for the stark extreme
