looking at buying a roe sack , advice would be helpful from anybody with experience of roe sacks , pro,s cons , prices , sizes ect

I have used a few different ones and the one I have now I was just given and it hasn't got a name on it as far as I remember but it would maybe take a couple of Roe at a push,but you can guarantee that whenever I shoot a couple I will have forgot to carry it.Last time I was lucky cos I didn't even have the truck with me and the Farmers wife had to give me a lift home with a Roe and two Muntjac......lol

I use Harkila roesack and carried two roe in it or a red calf as seen at the end of this vid

It is quite good but bulky with the plastic insert. Some stitches are now looking as they would give any time but still working fine.

I believe there is a bigger one called sikasack or something?

Poppins sika sacks are the best I have seen. Can fit a sika or 2/3 small roe. Not sure if she has a website but hand makes them to order.

 

Harkila sack is also good. It's tidy looking and has zipped pockets, if it fails send it back to harkila and they will replace it.

Monarch roe sacks are the most robust and well designed that I've seen. Hardly know you've got an animal in them as weight distribution and straps are really well thought out.

I looked at Phill Odgen's roe sack while at the Country Mans fair,and ordered straight away.

It's a very good roe sack,from memory just under £100,ive had two roe and a fallow yearling doe,obviously not at once. and ive also had half a stag in mine,which was the equivalent of two roe roughly.

The weight spreads evenly,and has a load of pockets with a removable liner for washing.

I have used the harkilla roe sack for many years a very good piece of kit ...very well designed ...and as someone has already said harkilla will replace anything that is faulty

As mentioned above I worked closely with Phil Ogden to develop what we believe are the best Roe & Sika sacks in the market place.

 

They may not be the cheapest however true GB quality products rarely are...,conventional market products tend to slip down your back when full so the Monarch product sits higher up the back like a Bergen and is designed to carry heavy weights that are stable when the waist & chest straps are fastened, many other features have been incorporated since conception based on pro field use feedback.

Bigger isn't necessarily better, I mean who wants to carry 2 to 3 roe, plus rifle and other kit for crying out loud! I've got the harkila and have had two mature bucks in it and it nearly did me in. It's made quite well but the material is very loud when it brushes against things, something I'd have thought harkila would have thought of. Lining is good and strong and the pack has compression straps on it to narrow the profile so its not so wide on you back when nothing's in it. For all the good ideas on it if I have to get another I'd go for a well made Loden sack.
