What Chokes??

Recommended Posts

down to yourself really , some lads change chokes some don't , i read each bird on each stand then decide ect crossers i tighten up as clay is flat so you want tight pattern, springing teal ... clay is going up you see alot of its face so depending on distance you can open up abit , but abit of experience helps to read the birds , try not to get bogged down about chokes on your first day out 1/2 3/4 or 1/2 1/4 and just enjoy the day

Personally I would not pay the chokes any thought whatsoever!

you will generally either hit or miss and the last thing you need is to start worrying about things that make very little difference to your shooting.

Pay all your attention to your stance and mount and things will be fine. The people you see mucking around with chokes at the clay ground are either experts or total crap :D

I agree with all above. It's too easy to get bogged down with which choke is the best. Just learn to put the lead in the right place. :D I have been shooting English sporting now for 7 years and i find that i don't tend to need much more than 1/2 and 1/4. Learn your sight pictures you need for the setup you have; if you keep swapping and changing it can get confusing. The only time i would change my chokes would be the rare occasions that i shoot skeet then i swap them out for my skeet chokes.
