New Graham Advert On Gunstar!

Recommended Posts

Apologies if I have got completely the wrong end of the stick but I would like to have some things clarified before someone sends you a load of money.

Regarding doggame

I bought a bipod off you and have not received it yet, maybe Royal Mail but you have not sent me proof of postage as promised.

I paid via bank transfer to Garry Cox with a Gloucester sort code.

You also use PayPal under the name of Kane James.

You have been advertising a HTC Salsa and I can see from http://m.(!64.56:886/dave.graham.3990?refid=13 that the same phone model was used to upload pictures to Facebook.

Can you please allay my fears as quickly as possible and I will then edit out this post.

I just want to verify that you are not one of the Graham Brothers.

Read this thread cover to cover this morning and it's worried me to be honest. I'm looking for my first gun, I've send a dozen or so mails to various guys on gunstar for potential R10 / S410 / HW100 rifles for me. A couple seemed legit, many didn't bother to reply, but I'd often be reliant on getting the item posted.... Not ideal and the news that Paypal is 'banned' for this is new to me, so that was very useful - I'm not a huge fan but at least on ebay the most you can usually get stitched for is the cost of returning something to the seller if you follow the rules right. This isnt so clear then....

I couldn't see a 'sticky' on things to watch out for, is there one on here, or is it a question of buying face-to-face or from a dealer...?

How about introducing a "Verified Seller" system. If you asked for 10p to be transferred via PayPal you would then have a proper name and address. If this address was PayPal confirmed then you could be pretty confident that it was correct.

I found a shotgun on guntrader a couple of years ago from an rfd in the Shetland Islands. I did a bank transfer and then worried that I had no come back if there way a problem so will use PayPal next time.

Apart from the Shetlands being cut off due to the weather which delayed it and a cock up from Royal Mail all was well. All was well until the wife looked at the bank account and asked who Hatsan Escorts were!

Hey ho!

Gun related Paypal won't allow it, they have a blanket ban on everything gun related so you will have no protection from them. RFD to RFD transfer is the safest way and will probably cost you about £20 to your local RFD who will also check the gun is ok.

Also on Paypal, I've been screwed by the buyer a few times, claiming I'd sent an empty box (or even worse when they collected a coffee machine then claimed they hadnt received it!!) and making a chargeback claim - money disappears quick as lightening and that's that. No come back. I only use paypal to receive when it's a gift (and then the buyer would be nuts, unless they know you), or, with a lump in throat, on ebay when it's a 100% positively reviewed buyer.

  • 2 weeks later...

Over the last couple of weeks, there have been numerous attempted scams of this forum.

aalover, trying to sale a ginb stock, once a buyer mentions face to face, the item is suddenly sold, typical MO of family of scammers who are well known

sammy_78 trying to sell/swap a l/h s400. one minute brand new, the next 2003, bought it without realising it was l/h, a silly mistake anyone could make. sold it, but then advertized in gunstar..

Please beware..

Hi

Had this happen a couple of times on gunstar when I was looking for an AA 510 found one that seem a real bargain (to good to be true) I phoned the guy to ask was it still for sale and where was he, yes its still for sale where am I coming from. (gun was about 80 mile drive) he said I could pay pal and he would post, if not happy I could return. I said I would set off in 20 mins and be with him in a couple of hours.5 mins later calls back and says its sold!!!!!!!! 4 days later its back on Gunstar. I email and ask "is it still for sale" answer yes! So I phoned him and asked what happened to the sale and could I come to collect. Guess what he hangs up and wont answer calls, last time I called (phoned him 5 or 6 times a day for a couple of weeks) got a number not recognised message. Contacted Gunstar didnt even get back to me !!!!!!! BE VERY CAREFULL ALWAYS TRY FOR FACE TO FACE but dont give up on trust.

I guess this isn't the answer- for some reason- because it's too obvious. You get seller to use his local RFD, who sends the gun to your RFD (seller has previously contacted and verified your RFD as genuine, and has arranged things with him- see later). You contact your RFD to confirm gun is as described and sound. You then send the money. On receipt of the money seller contacts your RFD and authorises release of gun to you. Simpilz- too simpilz, presumably.

Just thaught I'd let people know there's 2 guns on gunstar huntsman classic and s510 plus extras £800 rang the guy and he said he'd get back to me, but didn't. Rang again today spoke to him asked why he didn't reply, said he'd had a time waster last night, he would see how far apart we were and get back, but didn't

Now he's put a air ranger up with mtc scope for 680 I think he is trying to have a lend of people

I could be wrong but I don't think I am

Just a heads up lads

Cheers rc1
