youcanthide...BANG 1,051
i ordered 14mm because i will be shooting 12mm lead so want to be around the similar weight is that makes sense. at least ive only got to pay it once as it will work out alot cheaper when i start making the lead balls
B.P.R 2,798
Why do you want to shoot 12mm? The 9/9.5mm will do the same job at half the price....unless you want to take down a roe deer And you dont need a 'custom' catapult. What you have there will do you fine. Fit a wrist brace/ lanyard, which will greatly improve stability and take pressure off the wrist.... and you will be laughing
youcanthide...BANG 1,051
it just seems to be the generally accepted all round ammo size on threads and catapult hunting articles plus i already had the 12mm lead mould. will 12mm take pheasant or is it to light for a confident kill shot. since you said 12mm will take a roe deer i assume it will
B.P.R 2,798
12 mm is quite big. But if you had the mould already then why not.
youcanthide...BANG 1,051
will 12mm take pheasant as on gamekeeper john he shoots 16mm lead to kill roosting pheasant . its the main reason i bought a catty as im sick of seeing pheasant well within catapult range on permission were im able to take them but not being able to. make a nice meal for both me and the hawk. (within season of course) and once im efficient enough to place a kill shot.

Saves you having to learn the different trajectory of a different weight trajectile.
Sheffield Catapults 71
12 mm is quite big. But if you had the mould already then why not. 16mm is what most use for pheasants as they are such a tough bird. As for adding a wrist brace to a flat boardcut, how do you intend he does that lol? B.P.R 2,798
A lanyard.... I also call it a wrist brace
Sheffield Catapults 71
A lanyard.... I also call it a wrist brace Ahhh, this is what's generally considered a wrist brace:
B.P.R 2,798
. to me lanyard is... And a wrist brace is...
youcanthide...BANG 1,051
well i will buy a few 16mm lead balls then. the range im getting to these pheasants is between 10-15 yard as they literally walk out in front of you. there suicidal lol
youcanthide...BANG 1,051
probably a stupid question but how will a lanyard help. presumably it wont keep taught so how will it stabilse the shot. wont it just slip down your arm. or is there a certain way you put it on like wrap it around your wrist
B.P.R 2,798
With the lanyards...cut them so theyre not too loose, then put your wrist in and twist the cord round a few times... Withe the 'wrist brace' type i like... cut them so theyre just big enough to get your hand through and they will be snug on your wrist.
