After reading some of these posts it seems that people are paying quite a lot of money for some of their bones/ meat. Just thought people would like to know ( if they don't know already that is) butchers have to pay for the disposal for all the bones, carcasses, off cuts they can't sell so in fact by taking it off their hands your doing them a favour. If you find the right butcher you will have your dogs all the bones they can eat for next to nothing. With all thats going on with meat tracablity at the moment our local butchers are busier than ever. I always make sure a spend money in his shop and leave a bit extra, so he is getting a little money from me (a bottle of scotch at Xmas doesn't go miss either). Vicky Steadman 328 Posted June 12, 2013 Report Share Posted June 12, 2013 my local butcher holds back some bones specifically for dogs in the shop - beef ribs mostly and the odd lamb leg. I try to stop in every week or two to buy myself some lunch and always ask for "something for the dog" which normally is a bag of 2-10 ribs! they ask nothing for the bones there, but I always spend some money in the shop like you do. i'd ever buy a "roasted knuckle" or raw hide from a pet shop when I can get fresh raw meaty bones for free!
