Signed but if its anything like the petitions over here it ain't any point.

the antis petition is to get the main sponsor at limerick greyhound stadium to pull out, considering that happens to be J.P McManus, a life long coursing fan, theres no point in either petition really, as nothing will change anyway. still need to be signed to sicken the c**ts tho

There is a point. Recently, in online polls and comments sections on various online publications there has been a bit of a ground swell in field sports people sticking together for a change and wiping the anti's nose for them. This petition is a continuation of that. Where once the anti's reigned supreme in online bullying of anyone in the public eye who had anything to do with field sports there is now a group of like minded people standing toe to toe with them and actually winning the battle.

Enough is enough.

We should be sending messages of support to people who are harassed by anti's, and refuting their nonsensical arguments on neutral public forums with reasoned, good tempered arguments.

One recent story on the independent.ie had the entire comment section pulled once field sports people pulled well out ahead of the anti's comments. We need to press home this type of thing and demoralise them, and show to neutral people that what we each do is not something to allow ourselves be beaten with.

At the risk of bumping a quiet thread (but in a good cause, honest)...

Folks, we've hit the half-way point on our petition to ask Limerick Racecourse to not listen to ICABS and to save hare coursing there. We have five hundred signatures. This is fantastic - we've managed to record that much support in only three and a half days from when the petition was started and we haven't even been publicising it that much. ICABS's petition to ban hare coursing from Limerick Racecourse has 878 signatures at the moment after eleven days of them lobbying all over the world via facebook and twitter looking for signatures. We've done brilliantly to get this far...

...but wouldn't it be even more brilliant if we reached our goal of a thousand signatures before ICABS reached theirs and when Limerick Racecourse were handed a petition to ban coursing by ICABS, they could just reach into a drawer, pull out our completed petition to save coursing and just say "no thanks lads, we're backing fieldsports because there's a lot more of them than of you and that makes fieldsports the obvious choice"?

We can do this - the weekend is coming up, more and more people will be logging into facebook or twitter, clubs will be getting together, people will be off work for a day or two and will have the time to sign and we could hit our goal and have this completed petition sitting on the boss's desk in Limerick Racecourse come Monday morning.

And then, the next time that an animal rights group pressures a singer to denounce hunting because he went to a hunting ball, or pressures the Gathering to call fieldsports "blood sports" and strip all mention of them from its website, or calls for boycotting a tv chef because she dared to know where the meat she's cooking came from, or indeed when they target any individual or company and try to pressure them into denouncing us? They can just point to the speed and size of the response that Limerick Racecourse got, and say "thanks but no thanks; now go away".

So please, I know some of you have been doing this already, but take five minutes, share the link to the petition on your facebook page or twitter feed, or email people, or call a friend, or talk to your club and tell them to come sign up!

Thank you!
