Anyones Canaries Started Yet?

Recommended Posts

She had built a nest and was due to lay yesterday,i found her all fluffed and not quite as active as she normaly is,she was feeding still but just wasn't right so i checked her over and could see the egg in her.She was panting a bit and stood wide legged like she was trying to lay but couldn't,it's her first ever egg Gnipper but now she's "stretched" as it were all should be fine now.

I've had a look at the vents on a couple of canaries like that recently and just assumed they were meant to look like that when approaching lay rather than being egg bound?

Its quite normal for the vent to be swollen mate, its when they sit on the floor or on the perch fluffed up thats the sign of being eggbound
