who wants a fight

Is that a question or a statement? No punctuation makes it difficult to comprehend as do your first 3 posts on the subject which prove you neither read nor understood the original problem. That makes your replies nothing more than uneducated guesses which doesn't help the OP at all.

Blackbriar wanted help, not half arsed guesses.

I wish I'd kept quiet now !  :sorry:

Tim, the rifle is .22 and the measurement you wanted is 3.5cm, as best I can measure it BUT I have a small amount of packing at the back of the scope. As it is aluminium, I think we've established it should be removed !!!!   Should I leave the packing out for now and start again from scratch over a longer range????

That's enough for me to work on, I'll post up some info for you tomorrow. Without exact figures it will be largely estimates based on similar situations but it should get you very close or at least establish whether you do have a problem with scope or mounts. Don't worry about the aggro, that's part and parcel of a forum, never really gets beyond swinging handbags.

No worries- a bit of banter among the boys never did any harm !  I'm old enough to know the difference

  :)

If there's one thing I hate it's people who don't read posts properly or give advice without knowing what they're bloody talking about. It's easy to talk crap and screw up someone who needs basic advice and guidance.

Simple advice, given from experience, that's what the op needs. Not some crap that someone THINKS they know and regurgitates just to see their name on a post.

You mate talk total nonsense at times, You had a go at me first. I can probally say I have been shooting airguns/ tuning/and such for at least 60 years now, I was in to modifying  airguns before you was born. there isnt a air rifle made that I dont know how to strip/ repair/ improve. Over my time in the sport, I have swopped ideas with the guys at Venom, and other people who know what they are talking about that unfortunatly leaves you out of the equasion. just because you have just joined the site dosent make you a bloke who knows what you are talking about. I can see now why Buster has stopped posting as much on here lately, Its because of posters just like you. Dont bother to reply, you aint worth my interest in anything you have to bleat about.

Couldn't wait til tomorrow so here goes!

Scope height of 1.5 inches approx.

Assume pellet weight of 16 grains (.22 AA fields)

Assume velocity of 560 fps.

Ideally a prime zero of 10 yards and a secondary of 28 yards with a high point of 3/4 inch at 20 yards.

Obviously that varies with power, pellet weight and scope height.

Scope height is the one figure I'm sceptical about, measure from centre of barrel to centre of scope using a right angle to get an accurate figure if possible.

A higher scope height (mine are all nearer 2 inches) will get you closer to the figures I've quoted.

Centralise the scope, repack the rear mount with something other than tin plated aluminium and see if you can re-zero at something like 12 yards. If you can you're laughing. If not you may have to look at adjustable mounts.

Regards

Tim

Firstly tron, if you read the sentence how I wrote it then you would understand I said make sure you choose something that WON'T corrode like a coke can, which means your right, so dont go mouthing off at me when I'm agreeing with you!!! As for timmy you learn something every day hahaha!!, I've used rubber in the past too and I prefer it to be honest, sometimes the aluminium of a coke can leave a stain on your scope,
cheers for correcting our most abusive friend above :)

Sorry you feel like that Tron, if Buster doesn't post on here because of me I suggest you look at page 1 of this thread.

What were his words? "Wise words Tim?"

Buster would tell me if I was out of order. I respect his opinion and that of people who I consider know more than me or better than me. You may be older, you may have swapped ideas with the people at Venom.

Great. Venom are no more.

Probably is a word. -  probally isn't.

Were born - not "was" born

An air rifle - not "a air rifle"

Unfortunately - not "unfortunatly"

Equation. - not "equasion"

Doesn't - not "DOSENT

Aren't - not "aint

Thanks for the lesson in English Language, I'll pass it on to all the infants I deal with.

Right . I'll say this much . You both , Tron and Timmytree , are very much " up on your game" and personally i would seek advise from both of you as i consider you both - A , friends , and B , very knowlegdeable about the shared interest we all have . Tron , if i can be so bold , i would suggest that you have a chat with Tim "off site "as im 100% certain you would get on well and appreciate his passion and knowledge for the sport , as i can see one of the best springers shooters i know . And Tim , i would also encourage you to speak with Ron , who if im honest , and im sorry Ron , iis a bit green when it comes to the internet , and Can ( and does , lol ) come cross as grumpy , hell im the grumpiest here ! Now guys i know and respect you both very much , and im sure if you could both put this behind you , you'd get on very welll . Just give it a try , you might like it , plus ide appreciate it .

And Yes Ron i dont post much and if im honest im going to quit he site soon , as i feel its time for. Me to move on .

Can't argue with that mate.

Tron, you buy me a beer, then I'll buy you one.

Apologies for getting arsy but I've got to the age where I get feisty because I can and because I'm allowed to be a grumpy know it all b*****d.

No kisses and no flowers unless you want to try running with a rosebud up your bum.

Regards

Tim. :icon_eek:
