avoiding decoys

look at a real crows they don't just sit motionless. i added a flapper to my patern and it made a hell of a difference.

 

pigeons will come in easier over none moving decoy compared to crows i find with crows a flapper and 2 full bodied crow decoys works well as if i put out to many decoy for crows they seem more hesitant to come in.

I have been shooting pigeons for around 40 years and in my opinion dead birds are by far the best I always keep 2 back to put in the freezer for the next outing. I only ever start with 2 dead birds either on whirly bouncer or cradles. By far the most important thing is to do your reconnaissance and get yourself in the right place at the right time look for where the pigeons are feeding and the flightlines coming to and from the field also the wind is important it is best if it is at your back as pigeons land into the wind and will approach your decoys head on.

Once you have set up walk thirty ,forty yards out into the field and look back at your set up and decoys see if you can see anything wrong

when you clean any woodies you shoot, take the wings off & attach them to your decoys, with rubber solution.. keep out of sunlight, keep still & when they get in the 40/50yd zone shoot straight .
