Thanks griff , I think where I stand with it is , I've made so many that the pleasure has gone , carrying it on as a hobby doesn't appeal much , it would be like going back to your old job at weekends for fun !
Who knows maybe I will make some , I'm not sure I will show the world if I do , I like the idea of a collection of my work just for me . Maybe that's what I will do .
Until then I need to find homes for this lot ha ha

Yes it is a great shame to be giving it up. A very talented bloke, making some great blades. Perhaps just a rest is needed Matt. Best wishes though for the future, what-ever you decide to do.

Your an artist Matt, it's in your blood! I would think you will have a job to shake it. I am off the tools now for a job as i Knackered my back, but to be honest probably spend more time making stuff then when i did it for a job and enjoy it more too! The shed calling gets me through the workday at a job i wouldn't have chosen but pays the bills.Your own collection sounds a good idea, up to you if you show the world but would love a peak.

How about running another one of your knife making competitions if you have surplus blanks to shift, won't have a look in against you but would be fun, count me in if it's a goer.

Boric acid off eBay griff .
Getting the steels right and clean weld is the hard bit , once you get a weld your there but patterning is a totally different thing .
I forge a kitchen knife from two pre made bullets of the ladder pattern with a nickel steel core . It took pretty much all day to forge . And like I say the pattern welded part was already made .
The blades a fail to .....
