No your completely right as always. It was silly of me to suggest you maybe move this video to a different section of the forum or that people pm you for advice.

Sorry for suppressing your human rights or conjuring up grand plans for an underground movement. I feel my work here is done. I'm off to have tea and biscuits with the Gestapo.

The stage is yours grand MASTER Milegajo.

Is that sarcasm my dear Mawders? No need for apologies. No harm done and I still loves ya.

Howdy guys...   Those of you that know me personally will know that I'm truly above board with everything to do with airgunning, sharing my advice when I can etc and would never do things deliberate

And so this thread rambles on....   Well considering, about 10 years ago, a certain police firearms officer up this way, got himself sent down for pocketing about £30,000 cash fiddled from the FAC/S

Aww bloody hell Darryl mate I'm sorry to see what's happened here. Particularly so for your wife and family, who suddenly had armed police officers tromping about her home and her man treated like a

Mister Mole Sir you were very lucky. Because either they must have been asleep. Or Traffic officers can only see out of a bloody car window!

Richard I agree with you. As I said elswhere before, I grew up almost from birth, on shooting in an age when you could walk openly around a rural village with a 12-bore over your arm and stop off at the pub with it. I went shooting with my Dad countless times and the whole shoot's guns would be propped up against the walls while we drank pints. Well, Dandylion and Burdock in my case.

Nobody batted an eyelid. It was part and parcel of country life.

But, those days are gone more's the pity.

We have to be more careful than ever now. People are more fearful and easier to panic than once they were. That's why we have to keep our sport hidden as far as possible. ;)

It's a bind and a bloody sad indightment of how society has become almost imprisoned by fear and ignorance. But that's how it is and it will never change.

Well I've reviewed the vid and the conclusion I have, is as before. Possibly worse but, I remain with my original sumation of the dude in the mask and gigs.

Miles I want to see more of your usual interesting posts on shooting and countryman's way of life. That's what this forum is all about and you are a great contributing force in it.

Not your other side of anti-establishment power-to-the-people bullshit. You clearly have an axe to grind with those who have held sway over you in the past. They may have had a chip on each shoulder. Nobody told you to act in the same way.

You really have come to the wrong person for anarchy brother. And certainly the wrong place to reveal it!

And if a McDonald's employee asked for my address, my reply would be;

"No need to post it son, I'll take it while I'm here..Thank You!"

Compliments and regards.

I am genuinely touched that you re-examined it. I may disagree with your conclusion, but, in a strange way, i'm glad of it. If that is your true perception and belief, then I accept it. I don't view it as 'wrong' because who the heck on this green earth can say what is right?

I also acknowledge that ultimately we agree, injustice, as we see it, is completely unacceptable.

As to your advice, I intend to gladly follow it. That's not to say I renounce my beliefs and won't ever again advocate the ways and methods I have done, they are in accordance with my convictions.

I would love to see someone attempt to pull the crap that Darryl and Tony have suffered on you, cuz my money is on you!

Respect and heartfelt gratitude to you Simon.

Phew, Lets be frank here, all police officers dont follow the rules, there are bad ones strutting their stuff, blatently lying and causing big trouble for law abinding citizens. my own experience lately made me dissapointed that presumably honest? officers close ranks and refuse to listen to such complaints from agreived members of the public. I believe from my own experience its better to say nowt and keep your head down because your wasting your time complaining all it does is make you a marked man and you will start getting unwanted pressure for daring to complain.

Miles that is to your credit as a good and decent-thinking, intelligent man that you take my point of view as I respectfully take yours. I've come to honestly enjoy and agree with much you write on shooting. Thank you mate.

But this particular view of authority you have, I think , has been born from bad experience, probably in the Army, of you being abused and ill-treated by it. I've had more than my fair share in the past too, as have many before and since. But I got smart and rose up the ranks and did something very positively to put a stop to such abuses of rank and power on any of my junior airmen serving with me. And my sense of right from wrong is all the more accute for it.

And that is why I am compelled to disagree with you on this being used as a platform for a point of view I feel is very negative. For you as much as anyone else.

What this man is saying is how to be as obstructive to the point of smart-arse beligerance as one can push it to, and that is just BEGGING for more trouble than that which originally brought the situation into being. And only the clinically thick would have the neck to try it.

"YOU MUST NOT COMPLY" (quote) Very dramatically emphasised.

Only very, VERY stupid people try getting into Police officers faces with non-compliant crap; and ultimately turn something trivial into an arrest!

We all know where we stand on shooting and the law.

If you are shooting on land for which you have permission, have a legal air rifle or licenced firearm and shoot responsibly, you have absolutely nothing to fear from police authority. Nothing whatsoever!

Darryl made a mistake in dealing guns in a public car park. And that was wrong.

But someone obviously made a report to the police that must have sounded like he was a bloody terrorist. And that was wrong.

And the Police came charging into his family home and scared his family half to death as a result. And that was wrong.

Let us learn from this misfortunate set of circumstances and move on.

Regards and Compliments.

As said, I don't agree with all that is said in that video. "Must not comply" is a bit extreme, but as a lowest common denominator rule (and lets acknowledge that youtube broadcasts to a...how shall I put it delicately, 'varied level of IQ's') it is, I believe, a starting point for others to take forward, educate themselves and refine as they see fit according to the circumstances in which they find themselves.

For fear that those reading this thread mistake your interpretation of a video I used for illustration purposes as being a verbatim representation of my standpoint, here's how I personally choose to play the game;

If any man (be it policeman, macdonalds employee, whoever) approaches me and questions me about my personal business/affairs/belongings, and fails when asked politely (as I make a strict point of being) to state his business and divulge the motives behind his line of interrogation, he will find me to be reserved, guarded, evasive, non committal and non compliant.

The same applies if he comes making allegations or I believe he intends to cause me or my family harm/injury/loss.

If, however, a man comes to me requesting my assistance in his investigation into perhaps a crime that involved a human being that suffered actual harm/injury/loss, he will find me most helpful and obliging.

I live in the woods, I live there, among a plethora of other reasons, to keep my exposure to these potential negative encounters to a minimum. I have still been invaded, but by retaining and protecting my rights those who would seek to harm me/my family/my property were peacefully and successfully repelled.

I have also gladly assisted polite, respectful 'Peace Officers'. I urge others to also aid Peace Officers.

I seek to warn against and aid others in protecting themselves from the minority of thugs who would abuse their powers entrusted to them by us, the people. Also against 'Policy Enforcement Officers' who may not be disrespectful thugs, but will also, perhaps unknowingly, abuse their position in order to generate revenue in the form of arbitrary fines etc. To make a stand and stamp out outright and punitive infringement of rights.

The above is not an attempt to, nor intended to negate or change anything that you have stated as being your perception or opinion. Only to clearly communicate that which I may have failed to sufficiently explain previously.

Thanks again Simon, if you are going to the meet in October, as I hope to, I would be honoured to shake your hand.

Dear Miles

You appear to be revealing some deeply-hidden hurt or wounds in your soul I think here my friend. Something very bad, done to you in the past ....?? You have a very sensitive self-protection instinct that seems to have been heightened by something, perhaps events in your life?. Forgive me if I'm wrong but, your use of the word Invaded,. sounds like someone accustomed to siege-mentality.

You do, however live a life that will seem strange and probably ferral to more than a few townsfolk and that will make you a target for suspitious minds unable to grasp why you choose live this way. Do you get pestered by the Police? They must know about you, surely. And you aren't doing anything wrong are you?

I don't think you are any different to me or most normal, rational-thinking people. In a long roundabout way you simply show how to react as I or anyone else would to the approaches of Police officers. If they have just reason, appealing for a witness, a life may be saved, of course, that's fine. If he just want's to push someone around I'll raise bloody hell with the Chief Constable over his conduct, if I have to.

I just do not need some fairy tart, toytown Urban Commando wanker in a wooly gimp mask and sunnies to tell me what to do when the nasty man pops up. And neither I think, do you. Most of us here are quite intelligent, rational men who, frankly would find this Youtube warrior a bloody joke as I do. I mean, well, look at him!!

There will always be arseholes and thugs in uniform. Weak, gutless people will always join the ranks of others who have more of a principled and honourable motives for becoming police officers and trade on the good name these better people work hard to foster. These are called bullies and they are very easy to root out and put down because they cannot get past anyone with strength of character who refuses to be dominated by them.

So don't you worry my old cocker, I know how to deal with some jumped up Pavement Admiral pushing his tin. I will not stand for a Coward son of a bitch under any circumstances.

I'm trying to wangle the time to get to the October meet too Miles. And you shall have my hand readily my friend! And Mawders too if he's around  .

Regards and my best wishes to you and your family.

Well said Miles I stand in awe at your knowledge and beliefs. It takes me back a few months ago when I had cause to ask for specialised legal advice for the problem of which I wont reveal on here, but you my friend are privy to. I was gutted to be asked by the solicitor who is a expert on firearms cases for the sum of £600.! just for preparing and supplying a letter on my behalf!! This is no lie. God only knows how many thousands of pounds I would have lost if I had proceded with the matter. If I had known then of your vast experience in the law I would probally won thousands in compensation and had the satisfaction of seeing the lying, bullying, dishonest, policeman fired!. after supporting law and order during the full term of my adulthood this was a real wake up call for me, hence my advice to keep your head down and say nowt..Whenever I see a police car nowadays with the words Serve and Protect emblazoned on the doors I think Yes, serve the rich, and protect fellow officers.. :censored:

Pianoman - Not upto anything shady I assure you. Living the way I do, as you say, you can invite that sort of attention. People are almost disappointed when you are 'normal'. Mischief? Always! Haha.

I don't get pestered by HM, Have only had two encounters at my current location. One was PC Tattoos following up on an allegation by a Mr Noseysonuvabitch about my old HW97k, unfortunately he was a "you shall do as I command" kinda arrogant fella. Rude too. It was he I wrote about in 'Hold Onto Yer Guns'.

The other time was a different Mr Noseysonuvabitch who called them out to my permission, only approaching me after he'd called the Police, then realising he'd been a fool. These were Peace Officers and did what they were legally required politely and with minimum fuss. A genuine pleasure to meet and speak to.

The other 'invader' was the local so say 'Lord of The Manor' who waffled some rubbish about being my host. Got him to give me his details so I could put "Yeah? Show me the deeds!" in writing (far more politely, of course :tongue2: ) Not heard from him since and that was nearly 6 months ago. No Deeds - No Title.

Re the Meet, I'll let Mawders know :boogy: , i'm sure his legs will turn to jelly at the thought bless him :icon_redface: .

Tron - Don't get me started on solicitors!!! That's a whole new thread :censored: identical sort of content too. Human beings lets acknowledge that, but potential con artists too.

I too often have a wry smile raised when I see the local police slogans. The PR Spin.

Thanks Chaps,

Best wishes.

Im new here, and looking back to the original topic, Ive decided that although I strongly suspect the air rifle Ive just fixed up and got working is well within legal limits, I want the certain peace of mind of getting it checked out. I phoned my local gun shop and they said chronograph testing was free but just purchase a tin of pellets or whatever whilst you are there (although I would have been happy to pay £20 or whatever for the peace of mind the free service and the attitude of the person on the phone made it far more likelly that when I come to buy a proper air rifle I will be happy to pay a bit over the odds to come back to them...

Also think Im very likelly to join up with the BASC before very long. I like the idea of good insurance cover and advice.
