The mole king award, who,s caught the most?

Recommended Posts

Anybody can put up fantasy figures and claim what they like, the original post is like saying how long is a piece of string.........it's meaningless. Most of the skilled trappers I know (of any species)keep their own council and say nowt........they get on with their job without the need to exaggerate or proclaim how skillful they are, they don't crave adulation from their so called peers, who are usually bullshitters anyway........Still waters run deep as they say around here....!

ATB.........Rolfe.

Customer service, effficency and humane trapping are far more important in my opinion.

I learned recently that the British traditional molecatchers register, have just 'celebrated' the 500th member to join up.Im honestly 'surprised' at the amount of people who are 'naive' enough,to pay the annual membership fee!

Why?!! It's marvellous it only costs you the price of a job, you can become a master mole catcher, and if you tell a few porkies you can have a patt on the back and feature on the cover of a newsletter for your own self gratification, sounds good to me!

By the way. I'm not disputing the number of moles trapped by the member of the year, it's just a bit easy for folk to get carried away with tall tales, if I were a fisherman I would have caught a fish and it was this ............................big!!

Self proclamation tends to move the limelight from the honest working man or woman ( sorry moll Nearly forgot you ), but does the working man want to be in the limelight? Or do we crave a little glory hunting?

Hmmm maybe I'm going wrong somewhere? Something missing in my life?

Without getting into molecatching politics (!), the BTMR is actually good value for money. After being sceptical about it for years, I joined last september. Within days, I had two domestic jobs directly from it, and so had more than covered the membership fee.

The other organisation is the one that offers the 'master molecatcher' certificate. They started with one exam, and now there are three. They have also been campaigning to have a change in the law to make daily trap checking mandatory.

I also heard (or read, I can't remember which) that they want to see the trapline trap outlawed because it allegedly 'stabs' moles. I'm not sure who true that is, but I do know that lots of UK molecatchers love that trap.

I can say that without a doubt, I will renew my membership with BTMR. Money well spent.

As for the 'molecatcher of the month/year' I'm not 100% sure how it works. I presume that it's based on trust, but really don't know (or care).

The number of moles I catch each year is between me and the moles.

      Hi Guys
I have been contacted by the parish council as rabbits are causing a lot of damage in the small park next to the village school. The rabbits are travelling in from a neighboring disused garden but the owner does not want any measures taken against them even though she lectured me for ten minutes about the damage they are causing in her garden! So shooting and ferreting are out of the question so cage traps are the best option.  Have you guys got any recommendations for suppliers and any hints would be appreciated. Pegandgun on this forum seems to be a user of cage traps?

Much to my chagrin, KORO's rodent trap is being redesigned.  A video, on KORO's facebook page, demonstrates the new design.  A larger pan and trigger that actually stays in one place.  Well, worth the time to track down.  KORO TRAPS Cooks Creek, MB - looks as if they might have looked at negative feedback in this forum.  Who's to say.
