The Gilford Lurcher & Terrier Club And The Rathbeggan Working Terrier Club Will Be Holding The Following Events On Sunday 5th August.

Entrys for straight racing on Sunday 5th August will be taken between 10am & 11am with Whippet racing first then under & over 23" racing

followed by a overall racing final.

Judges names will appear on this thread soon for the class's above.

Hopefully will get a good turn out at this years event and its good to have the Strong Dogs on show at this years Game Fair.

There is no Rathbeggan show as they have amalgamated with the Gilford club this year at Borris Co,Carlow.

 

Have suppoerted both clubs shows past couple for years and must say, it is great to see the amalgamation take place. I believe this will draw a great crowd (from both the north and south) and in turn promote some healthy competition in all events.

 

Will this be a permenent partnership or is just a one off??

      Dessie Mackin has asked me to announce he is having an Irish Bull Cross Champion of Champions in 2018, and any show organisers wishing to obtain a qualifier please PM Dessie for same.  The final for this Championship will be held later on in 2018. Full details later.

      CHRISTMAS TIME IS ON THE HORIZON ,
      AND WILL SOON BE THAT TIME OF YEAR FOR DESSIE MACKINS CHRISTMAS SHOW, SATURDAY 16TH DECEMBER 17 at Bannvale House Hotel, Gilford, Banbridge, BT32 4NR. 
      This show will be for Terriers/Lurchers/Whippets/Strong Dogs, and  the good news is, by kind permission of Mr Aj Titterington all the qualifers for 2018  have been granted. Plenty of Christmas Spirit at this show, with some great prizes. Always a great Dog Show day out before Christmas, with plenty of food and beverages in Bannvale House Hotel  afterwards. 
      Come along for a day away from Christmas Shopping , and all the trials and tribulations of life, even just for a couple of hours.

      As part of the celebrations for our 40th anniversary fairs and following consultation with competitors and sponsors we have made a couple of changes to our international and All Ireland events  for 2018:
      Master Mc Grath Challenge for Elite Lurchers over and under 23" categories. Normal qualifying rules but special prizes to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the Great Game Fairs of Ireland and the 150th Anniversary of 'The Masters' first Waterloo Cup Win.
      Mick the Miller Racing Challenge for Traditional Over and Under 23" Lurchers :   To qualify for this neither parent must be a full greyhound whether registered or not.  The dog must be lurcher x lurcher bred. 
      The Five Nations Championships for Terriers, Lurchers and Whippets : Normal rules apply but special prizes.

      As usual we will be staging the ANNUAL REAL ALL Ireland Racing and Show Championships at Shanes Castle - these are the longest running and most prestigious annual championships for over 30 years, AND NEW FOR 2018 to give a high profile event for Under 21" Lurchers and Whippets we have changed the format of the 'Directors' Challenge  to give two high profile events with great prizes and a truly  superb trophy  to be won by the overall champion. 
      The 40th RUBY Anniversary GAME FAIR  Challenge for Under 21" Lurchers and Whippets :     In the final all under 21" finalists will race to find the ALL IRELAND Champion Under 21" lurcher;  all whippet finalists will race separately to find the ALL IRELAND Whippet Champion  then  the  Lurcher and Whippet Champions will run off in a two dog final with the whippet getting a handicap advantage.
