Recommend a good beginner camera?

Recommended Posts

Can you recommend a beginners camera. I'm

Always using my iPhone and after seeing a few lads with half decent cameras I was looking at getting one myself. It won't be for a while, won't really need it until September/october time. So I have a while to decide.

Would be used to take action shots of the dogs, racing, working, ferreting etc.

I've just seen this fuji finepix s2940 on fleabay for under £100.

Seems too good to be true for the price?

What other cameras are out there for that sort of price range. Nothing too fancy please

I am toying with the idea of getting one of theses :D

very impressive but wont match up to any entry level dslr. still a crackin looking camera in its own right. i'm useing a bridge camera just now and its ok. and i'm sure i'll get some good pics with it. but it aint no dslr  its a real good little second camera though. and no faffing around with lenses. maybe i'll upgrade to that one if you test it first kay :D .

To be honest the reason i would choose something like that now over another dslr is no problems with dust & bits on the senser , I am not going to progress any more photography wise because it will be nothing more than a hobby for me , if i got pleasing pics with a box brownie that would do me to be honest

I just thought it would be enough for me, no lens swapping etc & pretty compact , i wouldnt mind trying one for a wekend & seeing how it handled etc & see if it was worth using for the kind of things i love to photograph

thats the reason ive got this one. i'm more of an opportunist. ive some good snaps allready with this one. but it will take a while to adjust to something that is more limited. i really like the look of that one. thats a massive zoom  and there is still a lot of manual control. :hmm: i recon if you can deliver good pictures you will do it on most cameras.
