there are certain things you will need, 1st , you need a pair of wellies that look too big,2nd you need a bad susptious attitude,3rd , you need to have your legs amputating and your arse glueing to a landy seat :D

I too am getting myself into keepering :victory: But there not much money involved  So the best thing you are to do is get into a trade like plumbing or building and have a little syndacite shoot on weekends as a hooby :thumbs-up: Then when you retire you can spend a lot more time out there with money to fall back on :rocker:

Depending on where you stay there are a few colleges that cater for Gamekeeping Garry.

We have 3 up here but if you google it I am sure you will find alot more.I was at the game fair on Saturday and the college had a recruitment tent.

If it was me starting out I would specialise in Deer Management/Wildlife management thats where you will make a decent living and enjoy what you are doing, a Forestry commission stalker will earn a starting salary of 24k.They sometimes take on apprentices check their web-site out. www.forestry.gov.uk

Qualifications are the answer nowadays.

Change your attitude for starters you'll get further. Go the college route education is never a bad thing and if you find you don't actually like the job you can swap it for something else you do like if you can find a mentor to add to the pot even better. Plus education if your young enough IS FREE!!

Take advantage of it whilst you can later on it'll cost you loads just to blow your nose on campus.

hey, i'm new to the sight and saw this article which really grabbed my attention, as i am also looking to go into gamekeeping. i'm only just going into college but wasn't sure if taking a course in the subject was the right thing to do. will it actually help me to become a gamekeeper, or is there a better way to go about it? try riseholme college mate in lincolnshire i went there 17 years ago and i loved it. i had to travel 108 miles round trip a day because i was married and had two kids with one on the way but i stuck it out for 2 years and loved every day of it, you learn everything about gamekeepering , shoot management and forestry i got my ntcp chainsaw tickets all sorts of stuff , also dont worry about money there are grants out there for you to apply for and through the summer if you show willing and to be hard working they will find you placements on a shoot in the area.they also have there own shoot around the college too.its great.let us know how you get on mate

regards wag

because there is no other colleges like that near me and sparsholt is the best for gamekeeping. im living in at college so travelling isnt an issue. it only takes me about 50 minutes to get from oxford to winchester anyway and only come home every 2 weeks.

Joe hit d nail on the head! if ya want money forget about it! if you really want to go into keepering you should go to collage, without that bit of paper no-1 wants ya! if you struggle gettin in with a keeper try contacting your local firearms bobby nd ask him to have a word, he'll no as good as any!
