Here's some pics of my court for the Jill's, it's attached to the run/shed for my Whippet & pups, there's also a few pics of the Hobs hutch.             As you can seefrom these

This is mine, it's 8x6 and has 2 levels       I'm in the process of making a larger one outdoors as it gets quite hot in the shed during the summer.

I've decided to go for a 6x4 apex shed. Decent Tongue and Groove, not a cheap one with chipboard floor.

The windows will be on the side facing down the garden so plenty of light will get in.

What would you advice for ventilation?

I was thinking about cutting a 2' 4' hole in the door and meshing it but worried it might let too much weather in?

Thanks

scothunter has a awesome build for his ferrets.

i have one side of the hut all mesh, got the house for cover from most of the rain etc, still get loads of light and not getting cooked on hot days, some wood stoping most of the wood shavings from getting chucked out from both floors

I was gonna have the door all mesh but it's gonna be open to the elements and dont want inside get ringing wet.

But without some ventilation I think it will stink and get too hot in summer.

Gaz, why don't you make a mesh door that opens inwards and fit it to the inside of the frame leaving the original solid door on, That way if the weathers nice you can leave the solid door open, and if it's cold close it.

Yup... that would be my advice too..

I did think about that but then when the solid door is closed there is no ventilation.

Would drilling a series of 4" holes around the top of the shed be an option? Say every 12" on 2/3 sides? Then Mesh inside.

I'm thinking...

7 x 5 pent shed. Window on right as you look at the 7' side of shed and door on left.

Inside. 4' x 2' double tier hutch (already got) on the back wall to the left and then the right hand side of the shed partitioned off with mesh, floor to ceiling, full 5' width of shed and about 3' deep with various shelves and tunnels, accessible from the 2 tier hutch via a pipe.

Ventilation in the form of holes or vents around the top.

This will give them a 4' x 2' x 2' double tier hutch for sleeping quarters and a 5' wide x 3' deep' x 6' tall playing area with 3 or 4 levels.

My logic is that the shed floor will be kept clean (ish) and should make cleaning out easier and I can get in and out of the shed (out of the weather) without them escaping.

What do you think?

As you can seefrom these pics there's black piping running from the floor of the court, up the wall, across the roof into the dogs run and runs across the roof of the run then back into the court.

There's perspex between the court/run along the bottom, helping to get the pups used to ferrets.
