Some people do not understand the effort that goes into a pack from pup to entering , hound pup sent to be walked and socialised by puppy walkers mixing with children and other dogs cats etc , stock b

During the Winter three times a week I speak to two gentlemen who between them have 130 years of hunting between them. When I ask them if scent will be good they both usually give me the same answer.

Yep Skycat, I'd agree with that, the older a dog gets, the more experienced it gets on a line. Youngsters do pick up quick but it can be all 'piss an vinegar' as they charge in, ever too keen with a nose full and loosing the 'direct' in there enthusiasm. Expierience and a slower steady pace does the trick. :thumbs:

scent, weather, time of year is a big part in hunting with hounds as is the selection of the pack to suit the country on the day. just as important is the prep of the pack .

packs fed on raw meat and kennel prepared feed have better noses , packs that are fed mass produced meal with

countless aditives are impeaded, :hmm: this was a statment in a coversation i was lucky to be involved in interesting thought :hmm:
