Hello All...

Update on Box..the hob.

He,s been knocking my jills and a few mates jills out of season this summer and had a great time..He,s in with 5 of my jills and gets along great with them all. He fathered 2 litters of kits from my 2 best jills..(befroe his vesectomy)Unfortunately I lost both these jills this summer. So I am only left with a kit from them now. . . I was advised at the time to not breed from him as he was an unproven worker..but im really glad i did now. . .the kits have all turned out nice strong healthy ferts and the one i have kept is looking to be a good un so far..My mates have all had one so theres a few about to keep track on and check the progress.

Anyway I took Box out yesterday for a little run through some big old warrens with a mate and his old jills. . I wanted to see how he behaved more than anything else, coming out of the holes and going down...Its the 1st time he,s propper been out apart from 1 little run through an empty set a long time ago.

Anyway we found a big set on a banking that looked well used and the dogs liked the look of..we popped my mates little jill in and she soon had one bottled up below..she,s only little and usuallly get dragged around for a while before she can kill her bunnies..So we dropped Box in and he was down and on it in no time and the little fella bolted with him behind...The jill went straight back down and so did Box and within no time the jill was back up at the other end of warren stuck to another...The hob showed but went back dwon further up the warren...next thing i can hear a sqweeler but im getting a mark from the locator about 6 foot away rom where the noise is..very strange..4ft down.the 1st 2 feet are quite easy them it turns to clay and bits of roots/rocks and becomes very hard work for the last foot.. when I gets through,Yes its the Collar off the hob...bloody great im thinking.. So we go back to the other mark from the little jill who has now moved to where the sqeeling was coming from...4ft again (6ft on locator)... It turnd out more like 3 ft ...but the last 1ft was hard work..When we got through both ferts were on the dead bunny at the bottom of a very large well used tube...Bonus. . . he behaved very well...no trouble at all.

So old Box the lover, seems like he might be quite usefull apart from his bedroom duties in the summer. . . what a lucky fert he is. . .what a life he,s got.
