I have sent my licence back on numerous occasion for varitaions, each time i have added the wording of " vermin control" next to the entry for 17hmr as well as next to the entry for .223. Each time they send it back I get a condition of pest and vermin control on the 17hmr but for the .223 its always ignored and they just keep putting " for zeroing and destruction of fox", I keep asking for the vermin condition to be attached to the .223 and they say yea no problem then when it comes back its just as before! It shows that some people in this office either have instructions from above or they just dont bother to check! Quote Link to post

Have found the last 4 pages quite interesting and the views expressed. personally i would always use common sense and stay within the law. Knowing the your own limits as well as those of your equipment, we all like to think we are born snipers but in reality most of us are just average shots!!!. i have Fox control on my certificate for both my 223 and 22lr. i also have a section 1 shotgun which also has fox control. i must admit i have my views on .17 and foxes, but will keep them to myself, to save my self the agro that someone else got for airing his opinoin on here. Elmer_Fudd 28 Posted January 25, 2012 Report Share Posted January 25, 2012 I'm confident in hitting a pound coin sized target out to say 75 yards and would bet £500 of my own money on that. So up to that range I'd happily head-shoot a fox with my hmr and know it won't twitch, get wounded or run. I've no doubt that the hummer isn't the ideal tool for the job, that's a .22cf or .243 job for much longer, reliable killing ranges. be willing to see if this is accurate ???? even in windy conditions ??? Thats great and as most people say, know your limitations, with your rifle, ammo and personnal skill level in all conditions. I was interested though on what factual ballistics he was basing the 80m on. Not to have a dig, but to learn from others knowledge. Unfortunatley though, some people do quote figures, with no ballistic backing other than their point of view. Nobody, is saying that there are not better rifles, in certain circumstances. Who said you should? I am somewhat confused by your first 2 posts, just what point are you trying to get across that has not been covered in this thread several times already?
