Does anybody have any experience of the Altberg Sneeker or Ranger? I wear ultra lightweight footwear all summer so find the changeover to average to heavyweight boots too heavy for me but these seem a tad lighter.

only seen them on the shelf mate, dont know know anybody that wears them, they will be very well made tho every boot they make is well made

Thanks Reddawn. I particularly liked the sound of the sneeker. May try to find a local stockist of their hiking boots to get an idea of my size in Altbergs and then save up for a pair. I did have a pair of Meindl Douvres but found them far too heavy for my little hobbit legs!

Altberg sneaker are v.good aswell. Lots of lads wear them too. Lightweigh but make sure you don't get the jungle version or you will have p!ss wet feet. Lots of lads made that

I now prefer breathable/non waterproof footwear during the warmer months after starting to wear inov8s this year as they're unbelievably light, but not exactly up to a bit of bushing or ferreting. I guess it's a bit like lurchers i.e. do you go for more than one pair of specialist footwear or a single pair of jack of all trades?

How do you rate the "han wag"..i wore mine last night lamping ...very comfy,warm and easy to get on and off so so far so good...big test this weekend tho.

CRISPI, STEGG boots

After a lot of research I decided on a pair of these, had em a couple of months now and I am delighted with them, very comfy, fit like a glove, plenty of ankle support and terrific grip even while crossing a few normally slippery streams.Time will tell how long they last tho.

Han wag are exactly the same as lowa. Also have a pair

 

How do you come to that conclusion...if you just take the Lowa Combat GTX or the Hanwag Special Forces GTX they have a different lacing system for starters.

Exactly the same and after using them both are exacty the same. I have a pair of lowa mountain NON GTX and a pair of han wag passed on from a mate. If you didn't see the name you wouldn't know the difference.

Got a pair of Lowa Mountain GTX about 6 months ago.

Comfy straight out of the box and good support, fairly grippy and well warm.

No complaints so far.

Google RV OPs. They were the cheapest I could find at £132.00 delivered.
